May 25, 201115 yr Based on what? The way this entire Ancelotti situation has played out would certainly suggest that there has been something in place for a while, be that a wink-nod agreement or something more formal. And maybe I'm reading too much into it, but a couple of Mod's posts in the aftermath of Carlo's removal have implied that he may be privy to some more information than the rest of us - but this is not the time or the place for such information to be revealed.

I really hope you have the right feeling. I thought that you knew the person that will become our next manager. My personal view of this situation is that Chelsea did the right thing to get rid of Carlo. I have never been a fan of him. He is a nice guy and positive person but he have no qualties as a match coach. I do also believe that he is scared of letting new players coming through the ranks. Why didn't Josh get more playing time when our midfield was playing like sh*t the whole season( except Ramires after Christmas)? A player like Bertrand would have been given more time after his loan spell too. I never got the feeling that the form did matter at all when Carlo was our manager. The thing now is to find someone that can build up something new and that isn't afraid of letting young players like sturrigde get the chance to improve and become the player everyone knows he can be. My first choice is Andre Villas-Boas because he's got it all. He likes to play attacking football, but he got qualities to improve our defence as well. He is a popular figure at Cobham and knows the enviroment well since his last spell here. He can also bring Porto's scouts with him. I don't believe that we can get him now and then i prefer the scenario with Guus as a manager until Andre will move to us( It will happen sometime, I'm 100 % sure about that).
May 25, 201115 yr a couple of days ago i read a article (don't know where) but it was interview with ron gourlay and he said that there will be no new signings untill players has been sold whch made me thinks that we already done deals with some players?
May 26, 201115 yr Actuallly mate I do watch him a lot and get good informed reports. I go to villa park quite often as my dad is a 20year st holder. Also they are playing in a championship team. Downing young and bent do basically everything for villa Ok so I'm the one who doesn't know what he is talking about  . But he's never caught my eye as an outstanding player. Those are the ones we are looking for right? Is he better than Zhirkov for example? They are like for like as players...

Ash uses skill and trickery to beat opponents, zirkov about a year ago uses more of a. 1 2 with another player, ash can play right left and in the number 10 rooney role, which he has done this season. Let's just leave it their mate and move on

May 26, 201115 yr Yes. Absolutely. Unfortunately this story will obviously gather momentum and there is sure to be more and more, The Express haven't wasted any time giving us a more detailed slice of rubbish LINK I love the fact they claim that we will have to fight to hold onto a player that has two years left on his contract. May 27, 201115 yr Rumour-mongering at its finest in the Metro yesterday: Salomon Kalou considering Chelsea future as Arsenal wait to pounce Salomon Kalou has decided to wait and see who takes over from Carlo Ancelotti as Chelsea boss before deciding whether to quit - paving the way for Arsenal to make a bid. The Ivory Coast international has endured a stop-start career at Stamford Bridge, and has so far failed to convince any manager that he’s worth a regular place in the starting lineup. Arsenal admitted they made an attempt to poach the forward from the Blues in 2008, but were denied by then coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. ‘We tried to get him (Kalou) last year (2008). But Chelsea refused and I have never spoken to him. I just asked Chelsea if we could talk about him,’ said Arsene Wenger. The Gunners could come back in for the 25-year-old again this summer, as Wenger has pledged to recruit experienced players, and Kalou would certainly fit the bill having spent the last five years in the England. The pacey wide man started just 16 league games last season, but still managed 10 goals So essentially, they have no quotes from Salomon regarding whether or not he wants to leave and they're running a 2 year old quote from Wenger and concluding that it means Arsenal are interested this year. May 28, 201115 yr Another one who I wouldn't let go for all the tea in China: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1391713/Zenit-St-Petersburg-target-Chelsea-defender-Alex.html
May 29, 201115 yr Another one who I wouldn't let go for all the tea in China: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1391713/Zenit-St-Petersburg-target-Chelsea-defender-Alex.html I guess that's the problem you face with having so much depth at a position...We've got more centre-backs than we can feasibly use and they're all good enough to play every week for pretty much any other team. It's great to have that level of cover if/when JT goes down injured for example, but I can fully understand Alex's frustration and I think that to be honest, after 4 years of loyal service, I'd be happy to let him move on if that's what he wants to do. Would also give us a chance to perhaps give Bruma some game time and groom him for the future.
May 29, 201115 yr but to make out alex has been left out is just wrong...he's been injured for months and actually started last two games after luiz's shocker at old trafford...he's going nowhere...wouldn't be surprised if luiz plays as a holding midfielder with alex and jt in the middle next season
May 29, 201115 yr deg0ey have you learnt none of the lessons of the first six months of last season? People said the same thing after Carvalho left, we'd be alright with only 3 and Bruma. Wrong, we weren't. Bruma wasn't up to it as many suggested he wouldn't have been and Paulo played centre-half. You remember how that worked out? Brit is also spot on. The only reason Luiz got as much time as he did was Alex's injury. I firmly believe Alex will start as first choice again next season, particularly if Hiddink becomes manager. Luiz has become a cult favourite very quickly, but let's not assume for a second he is in Alex's class as a defender just yet. Ability on the ball is one thing but some of his brain snaps have been costly.
May 29, 201115 yr I don't see us letting go of Alex. At the moment I would say that he's a man for the starting eleven together with JT with Luiz and Ivan as backup. There's also rumours about Bosingwa getting sold and Ferreira leaving, so that position might lose depth over the summer. If we sign a new RB I can see us relying on Ivanovic as backup, which would slightly decrese the competition for JT, Alex and Luiz.

Ability on the ball is one thing but some of his brain snaps have been costly. You both raise valid points. Alex's injury issues had slipped my mind (it's late, I'll put it down to lack of sleep). I do think that whilst Luiz has made some basic errors, a good run of games would sort him out. Having said that, as you say, Alex is currently much more solid at the back. I like the idea of trying Luiz out in midfield. Have no idea how he'd take to it, but he'd probably be a bit better defensively than Mikel.
May 29, 201115 yr Does alex lack of pass worry anybody. I know everybody played sh*t everton but alex had a nightmare, and his issue with pace was evident. I think its important we have 1 fast cb
May 29, 201115 yr Apparently HSV are interested in Mancienne now. Seems arnesen is trying to sign all our young players.
May 29, 201115 yr Would anyone swap Kalou for Arsharvin? I see Arsenal linked with him again & they want rid of Arsharvin.
May 29, 201115 yr no arshavin would be a squad member, would he be happy with that I dont no. Wages might be higher than kalou. Kalou can come on and score goals, and doesnt seem to disrupt the dressing room, or create problems being a sub constantly
May 29, 201115 yr Would anyone swap Kalou for Arsharvin? I see Arsenal linked with him again & they want rid of Arsharvin. I wouldn't unless he won't settle for being a bench player anymore. He managed 10 league goals this season (1 fewer than Rooney), which is just astonishing when you consider the amount of game time he gets. I also think he's the type that would thrive in Arsenal's system, and we don't need to go helping them out any more than necessary. I also can't see what Arshavin would add to us in the slightest - he doesn't seem particularly good at anything as far as I can tell. If we could do a (small amount of) cash + Kalou deal for Nasri then I might be interested :)
May 29, 201115 yr Arshavin got 6 goals and 11 assists this season. Kalou got 10 goals and 5 assists. They're both very good players.
May 29, 201115 yr Arshavin got 6 goals and 11 assists this season. Kalou got 10 goals and 5 assists. They're both very good players. :D Maybe I just haven't seen enough of him to judge properly. It's fully possible I've only seen his bad games.
May 29, 201115 yr Personally I think Kalou is a super squad player. Not good enough to start, but comes on and makes a difference, I don't think Arsharvin's ego would suit being like that & he is not good enough to be a starter.
