Chelsea want Gianfranco Zola to become a coach at Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports News sources.

Chelsea are six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United, with two games to go after their 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Sources say there is no suggestion the former West Ham manager is being lined up to replace manager Carlo Ancelotti and discussions will focus on a coaching role at the club where he scored 80 goals in 312 games.

Zola is not yet believed to have been contacted by Chelsea and a club spokesman said the club would not comment on "speculation".

This would be fantastic news and something I've been hoping for ever since Wilkins departed.

Haven't been able to warm to Emenalo, ever though I know nothing about the bloke. Love the idea of Franco coaching the likes of Josh and Kakuta. We may get a new free-kick specialist - we could certainly do with one!

Would be excellent if true, even just for the morale boost! Imagine him teaching Josh a few additional skills. Don't want to get my hopes up though... I always thought we should have gone for Robbie D... but I guess coaching may be a step back for him.

Yes 'Chelsea target Zola for coaching role' is the exact words. I think this would be a great move. Does that mean Carlo is staying? Did he have a say in it? They were together at Parma so know eachother well.

The good news is that Sky generally dont report things unless true or had proper information unlike a newspaper. Lets hope and I would like to see this done as sooon as, and for the club to confirm carlo's future. Then we can prepare for the preseason and next season which will only be good for us imo

Your being ironic, right? I would love to see this happen, get Franco in and have a succession plan in place.

Sky aren't brilliant but I've never known them to flat out come up with bullsh*t without any factual basis like papers do.

Really? They are as bad as any of the papers at times, worse in the run up to the close of the transfer window. I`m not saying this wont happen by the way, I would love to see Franco back and wouldnt be surprised if he did return, I just wouldnt hold anything Sky say as fact.

This would be excellent news and a big morale boost for all connected with Chelsea if it actually happens,at least our free kicks/crosses should improve 100%!.

Oh no we can't jump to conclusions saying that if Sky have it then it's solid, but like Castiel said, Sky don't just pluck random stories with hardly any bearing and make them breaking news.
