April 30, 201313 yr Fabulous pictures Tommy, thanks for posting them. One thing that really caught my eye was that old photo of Highbury with standing under the the west stand, it must have had quite a large capacity at the time. Lovely looking ground, I always enjoyed going there.

Lovely looking ground, I always enjoyed going there. Agree, some superb pics TD, most of which I've not seen before. Yeah, PB, I used to love going to Highbury as well, used to be a great ground and held about 60,000, just a bit smaller than Stamford Bridge back then. I really enjoy seeing pics and clips of the old grounds - saw The Big Match Revisited a few months back, and some of the views of The Hawthorns really brought back memories.
April 30, 201313 yr I would not have recognized Butch from that picture based on how he looks today. Also, Clive Walker is one strange looking dude. That can't be his real hair color, right?
April 30, 201313 yr You've got to love the 70s I know who i put in order for a carefree evening with me

April 30, 201313 yr Great pictures these and thanks for posting them. But on this picture with Bobby shooting from close range, try as I might, I just can't make out who the other team are. Just can't quite make out the badge on the goalkeeper's shirt (maybe an old one & no longer used?) and as It's a bit before my time,I don't reconise the slightly out of focus player in the background either. I'd be gratefull if anyone knew who the other team are. Honestly,it's doing my head in.

Cheers mate,I tried checking late sixties fixtures but without knowing the specific year (or if it's a league or cup game), I still found it impossible to identify them. I tried checking different club crests but none appear to look the same as the one on the keepers shirt. I honestly thought it was Derby County or maybe Burnley?. I guess the team will remain a mystery.

Pretty sure it's Burnley - if so, it was played at Easter in 1969 - we lost 2-3, but Bobby Tambling scored along with John Hollins. I was standing under the North Stand at the time, aged about 11. The previous day we'd drawn 1-1 at home to Newcastle on Good Friday (went to that one too, must have been a good week for pocket money!).

April 30, 201313 yr I know who i put in order for a carefree evening with me Let me guess, from left to right: 4, 1, 3, 2, 5, 7, 6, 8? Naturally, our lasses are much prettier than the Spurs ones. I would not have recognized Butch from that picture based on how he looks today. Also, Clive Walker is one strange looking dude. That can't be his real hair color, right? It certainly is, or rather, was. (don't think he sports much up top nowadays!) Speaking of Clive, I've just come across this fab pic: Here's an interesting article from the British Journal of Photography, detailing the clubs photo archives. April 30, 201313 yr Cheers lads,I thought it might be Burnley(or Man City,Preston ,Huddersfield etc) but I was convinced it was Derby Co,bloody black & white pictures!. Still can't quite make out the badge though.
April 30, 201313 yr A programme pic from the fantastic 10 Men Went To Mow site, is that Brompton cemetery in the background? Clearly a precursor to our relationship with Emirates. Not quite an exact replica, but matchsticks? I'll allow him some artistic license! Wee Pat had ambitions to play for Die Mannschaft! Some of the tributes to Matthew Harding: Edited April 30, 201313 yr by Lofty 1905
