Chelsea won the game 3-1 with goals by Dixon, Speedie and an OG by person unknown.

Full starting XI: Eddie Niedzwiecki, Keith Dublin, Bob Isaac, Nigel Spackman, John Bumstead, Mickey Thomas, Darren Wood, Pat Nevin, David Speedie, Kerry Dixon.

When you look at team take away Dublin, Issac and Wood and replace them with (i presume they were injured) Pates and McLoughlin and even though i think he joined in 1986 Durie. How in Gods name did Hollins manage to get us relegated?. That team should have gone from strength to strength and is why i will always hate John Hollins regardless of what a great player he was.

Was that a cup game? Remember going there when celery craze was at it's height and the whole of our end stunk of a fruit and veg stall. Elton John was still the face of Watford. Can't remember if we won or lost but remember walking past all the allotments on the way to the ground and our fans were on the look out for free celery.

No that was in the old First Division. We played Watford at their place a couple of years later, where we lost 1-0 in the FA Cup 4th round. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of?

Looking by the kit, this is when we lost 1-3 with rougvie scoring 85/86?

I've just checked back and you're dead right. I got the image from the official site's Shot Of The Day.

"Sep 1985: Pat Nevin of Chelsea in action against Watford at Vicarage Road", reads the caption, which as you say, was the 3-1 defeat, not the 3-1 which was the previous March.

I could have sworn the "Sep" wasn't there last time I looked!

yes went to 3-1 defeat and missed the win the year before! We were poor, 11:30 ko didn't help!

During that kind of era I would have been at both games, but after all this time my memory isn't what it was. I can remember a car load of us going up to Watford, but can't remember a thing about the actual games, And I can't even blame the booze!

Chelsea v Sunderland 79/80, my first ever game. Sunderland have about 2,000 down we're supposed to have only taken 800 to WHU on the monday after, poor for a London derby, anyone remember the WHU game? Chelsea won 1.0 Gary Johnson scoring.

Remember the Sunderland game (0-0). We were in the Black Bull pre game, when the maccems passed by outside. Couple of minutes excitement!.

Re the West Ham game, posted about this sometime ago, but we met up in The Green Man at Bethnal Green, got there late, and the Old Bill would'nt let us in, if memory serves right.

I remember the Monday night game at West Ham really well as I got nlcked met in the pub at Bethnal Green got to Upton Park Station West Ham were waiting outside the Queens it went off with BG and others seem to remember there was some roadworks near and a few signs were slung about last thing I remember was the old bill shouting out "get him in the brown suit" which was me cost me £50 at Stratford Magistrates most of the rest were locked out memories of Tottenham 4 years earlier

The first game that the Shed and the Northstand had the corrugated iron up i think. I didn't go to the West Ham game but did go the following season. It was a hairy place to go even for a schoolboy we got locked out and just saw the final 15 minutes from the Northbank.

That was the 4-0. right? That's one I do remember. When I'd been to West Ham before, I'd gone on my own, keeping my head down. That season though we had a little mob on the other side of the fence from a much larger mob of West Ham up the South Bank. Every time the f**kers scored they sang: "Don't cry Lofty, don't cry Lofty". What could I do? I'd been out all night and was well knackered, looked it too. I just sat on the terraces, feeling thoroughly dispirited.

It was BF yeah. The worse thing for us there was about 8 of us aged 14 and 15 every time West Ham scored we were the only ones not cheering. We stood out a mile and got loads of dirty looks and a load of abuse from geezers who would be my age now. If we were a bit older it would have definitely kicked off. Always hated West Ham since but i can't take them seriously since Green Street. Funniest film i've seen the stupid script the laughable acting (highlight is the bees and honey bit). And Rafe Spall who can't pronounce bollocks he says what sounds like ballacks.

Yeah Green Street was abysmal. The worst/funniest bit was towards the end when I think it was the Hobbit's misses tried to break it all up. Do me a f**king favour. The only thing worse than the actual film was the reaction of people who'd never been near it when it all went off creaming themselves over the bloody thing.
