November 9, 20187 yr Beating Everton at The Bridge in the FA Cup 4th Rd in 1991/92. I'd actually forgotten Clive Allen had played for us !
November 9, 20187 yr Clive Allen played with us for part of season 1991/92. In the League he played 15 times with another as sub. He scored 7 times. In the FA Cup he played 4 times and another as sub, Scoring 2 goals. He then moved onto West Ham In March 1992 for a fee of £250,000. The same fee as we paid Man City for him in early December 1991.

Yes I remember Clive Allen not that quick yet a good finisher, about the time we also tried Mick Harford

November 9, 20187 yr That not so great team of ours at the end of the 80s, early 90s contained a few tough nuts. Peter Nicholas, Hartford, Cascarino, Graham Roberts....
November 9, 20187 yr The only one I recall putting the boot in was Vinny Jones which I think was the fastest foul in FA Cup history at home to Sheffield Utd. Fortunately he had the presence of mind later in the game when a Utd player was taking pot shots at him to duck and weave with his hands clearly behind his back.

Here he 'tackles' Billy Bremner in the 1970 FA Cup Final replay.. Ron 'Chopper' Harris. Obviously Joey Jones too, from that 1983/84 team !

A good few mates came along to that game because one of our “ gang”, made his professional debut that day for Sheff U- via Sutton United. We knocked em out the Cup and relegated them at the Bridge in a short space of time. Corresponding fixture our mate got us into the players lounge after. Good craic Has a few night outs in Sheffield- in club VIP areas Utd and Wednesday players didn’t socialise too much, in case their respective fans there saw em getting along! November 9, 20187 yr Another striker I recall played for us briefly in the late 80's was David Mitchell. Could never understand us buying him and he never scored before moving on.

November 11, 20187 yr Another game at The Bridge v Everton, from Jan 29th 1972. Chelsea 4-0 Everton Scorers: Peter Osgood with 2, John Hollins a penalty and John Dempsey. Intro of 'The Big Match' first.
November 11, 20187 yr Stumbled across an article on a ex-player of the generation of Jody Morris, Nick Crittenden. I full appearance and MOTM yet didn't work out for him. Some interesting insights and he recalls John Terry shouting at Desailly and Lebouf in training. https://www.planetfootball.com/in-depth/man-played-pl-chelsea-now-yeovils-accountant/
November 12, 20187 yr At The Bridge v Newcastle United in Division One, Oct 3rd 1987. A 2-2 draw, Dixon and Durie got our goals.

November 13, 20187 yr Today is the 73rd anniversary of the game between Chelsea and Moscow Dynamo. It was estimated that 100,000 were in the ground. A guy I knew - he passed away a couple of years ago - was at the match. At the time he lived in the North End Road and bunked off school to watch the match. Loads of squaddies at the game and I love that there are so many on the roofs of the Shed and the East Stand. Couldn't do that nowadays. A few images from the game.
November 14, 20187 yr Home win v Newcastle back in Oct 80. Looking for footage of our home win v Newcastle in Nov 83 but can't find any.
