Day off work today- walked over Wandsworth Bridge and over to SB.

All change along Imperial Road where the gasworks used to be and the away coaches used to park up.

Annoyingly I couldn’t find any surviving CFC grafitti- along there and Bagleys Lane used to be full of it until fairly recently.

The one thing remaining which always takes me back is the painted goalposts you can see on the wall by Imperial Square. That’s been there since at least the mid 70s.

Walk past that goal when ever we drink at Imperial wharf for a home game, always remark I wonder how long that's been painted on, life was so much simpler in those days, no X box etc, anyway must dash, just about to play on my Atari!!

This game in early Jan 1979 always comes into my mind when I think of us playing in snowy conditions.

This one and Tromso away !

Duncan McKenzie, I forgot about him. I can't remember the last time I saw an indirect free kick, inside the penalty area.

You can see the chimney stacks of Fulham Power Station in the bottom pic- next to the gasometer- all gone now.

Remember crawling along Townmead Rd in heavy post match traffic- some shifty looking fella climbed over the Power Station fence with a big bag- the old man piped up “ What’s he up to- stealing electricity”

Not sure ( was rummaging in a charity shop- took some photos from a old football album- too right to buy it)

I reckon it might be against Roma which was a notoriously bad tempered affair.

The opposition players you can see look like slippery/ oily Italian types.

Edit: Roma was September 65- Fairs Cup. Looks about right.

ps the fella on the left looks a bit like Vinny Samways.

'This video documents the history of Chelsea FC. Original release back in 1989 and covering the time since 1905, it makes a good 'old skool' Chelsea watch !'

I know it's been posted before.

Some very good footage and a good interview with Tommy Docherty.

Got that video somewhere, but my Mrs has had a clear out recently, so I might see my video in a charity shop window!!! 30 years together and she still hasn't realised my first love is Chelsea!!

The home game v Roma was played on 22nd Sept 1965 and we won 4-1 , Our goals were scored by Venables with a  hat-trick (32nd, 40th and 46th mins) and Graham (67th).

Eddie McCreadie was sent off in the 28th minute 32,753 saw it.

The away game was played on 6th Oct and was a 0-0 draw in front of 40,000.

Looks like Cudicini Snr played in goal for Roma in the return.

Nice one Ersk. It was Peter Osgoods 2nd First Team appearance.

This is Part 4.

Part 3 is posted immediately above it.

That loss to Sheffield Wednesday at Villa Park was the most disappointed I'd felt as a Chelsea fan. We looked a million dollars in that Inter Milan strip but we were dire on the day. Ossie blamed the heavy pitch but I reckon we thought we'd already won the match, before it even started! Then an ex Blue, Jim McCalliog gets their second goal, bang on the final whistle, to rub salt in the wounds. Crestfallen I was.

Some really good footage in that 'History of Chelsea' footage.

Think I'll watch the whole lot next time I'm off.

My mission for this weekend Ersk, is to try and find that video and watch it, haven't watched it for a good 20 years
