I'd add the summer of 2004, when Jose had been appointed.

That away strip is simply awful. 

There were a few strips about then that were as bad. I seem to remember Newcastle Utd had a print of The Tyne Bridge on the front of their goalkeeper's top !

I reckon Chopper was born with that hairstyle - it never changed.

Gary Stanley amazingly still sports the same amount of hair today - although it's grey.

Never saw any resemblance between the various Wilkins brothers when they had hair, but they all looked very similar without any!

Regarding the transfers, with Micky Thomas signed at Christmas that was seven new players in the side! Colin Pates, Johnny B, Joey Jones and Colin Lee were the major used current players during the season.  Such a massive clear out after nearly getting relegated.

 Agreed and that's why , or certainly one of the main reasons we of a 'certain Chelsea Vintage' (Old Gits !) look back with such fond memories.

 Think the photo on the cover of this Middlesbrough Programme on 14th May 83 is us v Crystal Palace.

The fact that Joe McLaughlin signed from my local team Greenock Morton during summer 1983 meant that we got decent coverage in my local evening newspaper !

There would be say, an interview with 'Big Joe' every so often and also weekly updates on how he (and we) were doing.

I know we weren't that good at that time, but surely we could beat the opposition that day ,of that guy with the bunnet and glasses.
