Where did Yossi go?

Featured Replies

Yossi is still with the club, but hasn't played yet this season. He gave Mata his number because Yossi said that as long as he's not wearing his lucky number 15, he doesn't care what number he wears. Yossi is now #30 apparently.

Did you guys get hit by Irene at all down there?

i dont really get why he hasnt had a chance at all. not even as a sub? must be looking rubbish in training? if we are trying to buy a creative midfielder and thats what everyone is complaining about, plus his previous experience playing with torres......surely give him a shot? it frustrates me

Yossi gas just tweeted this:

"negotiating with several team...news soon..."

So looks like he'll be on his way (if it didn't before) as he's actively in talks. Shame, would have liked to have seen what he could do for us. One things for sure he would have chased every ball and given 100% each time he put on the shirt. Always striked me as a player who wouldn't go missing in a big match and would have fought to the end.

The only way I'd sell him was if involved a swap with Modric, otherwise I'd keep him.

Good player for West Ham. Average player for Liverpool. Never really got a chance here, but I don't think he's really up to the same level as the kind of midfielders we have had, like Lamps, Essien, Ramires, etc... Could have stayed as backup, but expect he wants first team action.

I suppose it's nice to have a free spot in the team.

I still rate him, I think he's capable of playing a part in most teams. Sadly, his injury last season robbed him off his chance to prove himself for us...I am confident he could have proved to be very valuable last season, but it wasn't to be.

Good luck to him if he does move.

Average player for Liverpool.

He was Liverpool's best player the season before we signed him, better than Torres, better than Gerrard, better than Mascherano - all of my Liverpool supporting friends were genuinely quite gutted when we signed him.

He has looked fantastic for us whenever he's played, in particular his link-up play with Torres has always impressed me. It baffles me that he hasn't been given more of a chance this season, since I really believe we need someone like him in the team. But I do have faith in AVB, and if he doesn't see a place for Yossi then so be it, but personally, I am rather disappointed by this news.

I'm a little saddened to hear that. He never really got a chance, and when he did get minutes he was very impressive. Having him missing last year when we were crying out for creative midfielders and players who can play wide right effectively (both of which he can do) felt like a huge piss-take. On the other hand, if Yossi is leaving you have to feel Modric must be on his way. I would have liked to be able to hang onto both, but it doesn't seem like it's gonna work out that way. It's a shame we never got to see a very talented and intelligent player at his best.

I dont understand ... We seem to have a lack of creativity, We seem to struggle to play to the strengths of our 50mill striker, and we are crying out for a cleaver player to exploit space "between the lines"

...so apparently it makes perfect sense to sell one of our few genuinely creative players who has a proven record of supplying our star striker during their previous spell together.

confusing!

So we've played 3 league games that all featured Torres but no Yossi in sight. Why is that? Could it be because AVB doesn't rate him? Just a thought...

I dont doubt it...it certainly appears that AVB has decided that yossi isnt his cup of tea

Dont get me wrong, i am not saying he is a world beater, its just that when we are clearly struggling for creativity, i cant really see the sense in getting rid of Yossi who is one of our more creative players. If we had a raft of others waiting in the wings then maybe i could understand it, but surely he offers more than some of our other squad players, especially when considering his track record in linking up with Torres.

At the start of the new regime we were told something along the lines of "I will give everyone a chance in pre season and assess from there". Well, Yossi was one of our brightest players during pre season, and certainly played better than Lamps, Malouda and Kalou during the asian tour. Hence I am surprised that he is still found surplus to requirements.

Agree entirely with all thats been said, really suprised yossi not been given his chance this year, cannot see what kalou or malouda offer above him, hope we don't rue this impending loss.
