Cech 5/10

Conceded two goals, one of them not given, other than that had precious little to do, other than save Eagles' shot, which he made a bit of a hash of. His distribution was good. For a change.

Boswinga 7/10

I haven't looked closely enough at their goal, I was serving myself some cake at the time. I hope he wasn't at fault again, because I'm beginning to like him.

Cole 7/10

A bloody good footballer. Not perfect, but nobody is.

Luiz 7/10

World-class on the ball. Passing exquisite. Still prone to the odd ricket.

Terry 8/10

Carlsberg don't do defenders, but if they did, they'd probably be .. John Terry.

Mereiles 6/10

The new John Bumstead. Without the goals. AVB likes him. I think we can safely say that.

Ramires 7/10

The day I approve of Mikel replacing Ramires is the day you have permission to shoot me. Not his best game, but who cares .. ?

Lampard 9/10

Hands up those of you who wrote him off, he said, smugly. What a f**king finisher. Let's hear it for our Frank.

Drogba 7/10

A selfless performance. Players don't have to be on form to make a contribution, and Drogba contributed today, and worked tirelessly, for the team. He hasn't been the same player since he caught malaria. I'm not saying he won't get back there, but I'm not saying he will either. What I'm saying is I don't know. Thats what I'm saying.

Mata 7/10

What's the matter with Mata .. ? Something, as a matter of fact. His touch wasn't there and he didn't look sharp. Nothing he tried came off. Maybe he's just tired. His intelligence, positioning and movement makes us a better team. That goes without saying.

Sturridge 8/10

To those of you who wonder why we moan about Kalou, Anelka, and Malouda .. that's why.

Subs:

Ivanovic 7/10

Did what he did best. Defend.

Mikel 0/10

Has there ever been a more tedious footballer to watch .. ?

Anelka 1/10

Nice try Anelka, but I still give the prize to Mikel.

The manager:

AVB 8/10

We were playing a poor side, but AVB got his selection right. No Malouda, no Mikel, no Anelka and no Kalou. I thought all my birthdays had come at once. Now, if you could just give Josh a bit more game-time ..

Crap ratings made by a fool.

Some times exaggeration is needed to make a point - you should be able to recognise it as that.

I however am a mikel fan so feel he offers more then others see.

It was only last week you were calling Torres a twat. Perhaps he and I should console each other.

Nobody could describe me as Mikel's biggest fan, but 0/10 is just silliness. As is 1/10 for Anelka.

Perhaps Hutch, but I lose the will to live watching them.

Anelka may say he's being played out of position, but so could Sturridge.

Crap ratings made by a fool.

I think the rating are pretty much bang on (especially Mikel's!!) bar perhaps Mata as I think 7 is being generous.

I like Mata and what he gives us is something we've been missing since Joey Cole was playing and in form (pre Southend injury). But he is a bit of a "luxury" player and when he's off form he loses possession a fair bit. Today we were good enough in other areas so thankfully didn't need Mata to be at his best which is just aswell as he wasn't anywhere near it!!

Moos - your running around calling people a fool but you have sat on this forum and said that your support lay with Juve over us when we faced of in the CL and your regularly addmit to truing of your TV and getting on with other stuff when its not all going so well. Like football should just be nice and easy...

The people your referring to as fools aren't fair weather fashionable fans like your self... I don't really consider you a Chelsea fan, think your more just a general football fan with an interesting take on world football. And being unnessaserily rude to people who actually add Value with regards to Chelsea on this forum

Lighten up for f**k's sake.

No-one deserves a 0, but I can relate exactly to what DB is getting at. Today, 4-0 up after 30 odd minutes would have been ideal to see a player like Josh, or failing that Romeu introduced. We all know what Mikel offers and one of the first things he did today when he came on was lose the ball and nearly gift Bolton a goal.

So what you're saying is that someone can't be a fool and a great supporter at the same time? Are you an idiot?

Nowhere have I talked about how good supporters people like Nibs are. In fact I think they are great supporters.

This has nothing to do with supporting Chelsea. Nor does it matter what I think of Juventus.

Are you an idiot?

We all have differing opinions on players. None of us are right and none of us are wrong. Some of us are more right than others. Some of us are always wrong. That's what makes the game so beautiful.

If we're going to throw insults around let's save it for the scousers ..

No what im saying is your bloody rude, if you disgaree with some ones rating of a player the most constructive thing to do would be to pressent reasoning for your oppinion. kind of rediculess going around name calling.

You supporting Juventus is my reasoning for you not having the same take on games as the rest of us. If you can actually want us to loose a game the magnitude of a knock out CL match with Juventus then there is no way you can feel things the same way the rest of us might. There for your oppinion on mikel and other players probably isnt a reflection of the fustration the likes of Nibs and DB feel. Your able to be much more balanced and objective because it doesnt meen as much to you.

I agree with most of the ratings. Mata should be 6 though not 7. He lost the ball a bit too often (maybe catching the Kalou-Malou bug?) and wasn't really a difference maker out there.

Also Lampard's 9 is a tad high. As a pure attacker I think he should get a 10 and definitely a man of the match but as a pure midfielder he was still somewhere around 6-6.5. I dont think he would get anywhere near the same amount of space and time against any other opposition this season. As a matter of fact, I dont think we should read too much into our performance because Bolton were worse than a Championship side. I'd still not start with him against an opposition with faster midfield and better defense.

PS: Lampard is a Chelsea legend.

Come on dkw, as barak says he is using exaggeration to make his point. He's not the first bloke with an issue with Mikel after all...

Just for my own ratings I'd say

Cech 6.5

Bosingwa 6.5

Luiz 7

JT 6.5

Cole 6.5

Meireles 6.5

Lampard 8.5

Ramires 6.5

Sturridge 8

Drogba 7

Mata 6.5

Subs:

Mikel 6.5

Ivan 6.5

Anelka 5

In many ways it was too easy against a very poor Bolton side so tough to be really objective, having said that you have to beat whats put in front of you!

Cech 6

Bosingwa 6

Luiz 7.5

JT 7.5

Cole 7

Meireles 6

Lampard 8 MOM

Ramires 6

Sturridge 7.5

Drogba 6

Mata 5.5

Subs

Mikel 5

Ivan 6

Anelka 5

Ivan gets the extra point as a sub for the goal line clearence, whether it was over the line or not it was a massive effort by him to get there and clear it!

Other than that I was a bit non plussed with the changes again, the game was well won so I would have liked to have seen Josh for Mata and Romeu for Meireles.

My ratings for what its worth

Chec – always a tough one to score, didn’t do anything wrong for me but didn’t really have anything to do at all. Will score at 6.5

Boswinga – Still think he is a liability; we tend to have a lot of crosses find there way in from the box when he’s there. And he is obsessed with running the ball back which isn’t always the best way. 6

Luiz – Don’t know why people would want to see him in centre mid his positioning, make him the perfect centre back. The little ricks will reduce but never go completely, no one is perfect but he is such a great addition to our line up 7.5

JT - normally starts high just for his leadership qualities. As always he is consistently solid, happy to start attacks and keep going with his runs. Such an under rated football player. – 7

Merles – Thought he did well today, good passing, kept things moving quickly, bit no thrills but not a problem while he keeps playing at a 7/10 game in game out.

Lamps – This is going to be a bit controversial but while he scored a great hatrick I still found his passing to be bit lack lustre. 7.5

Ramires - Surprised he was taken of and think he would have really pushed them a bit more it the later stages, we shouldn’t take are most athletic player of that earlier in that kind of game, bad decision. 6.5

Mata – Not going to be a super star every game, didn’t do a lot wrong (a few miss placed passes) but nothing outstanding either – 6.5

Studga – Everything we didn’t have last year, but some times, just some times you need to lay the ball of or try to go to the by line and get it with your right. Classy not celebrating as well – 8

Drogba – Didn’t look all that interested to me, played it fits and starts and we know how much more he can offer – 6

Quick sub ratings

Ivan – 7 – lovely to see what should be our first choice back 4

Mikel - 6

Anelka – 6

To be honest a bit disappointed with the subs, Ivan yes but mikel and anelka should read Romeu and lukuka. If you can’t bring them on a 4-1 when can you?

Other then that, loving your work AVB

I thought he might have been at fault for their goal. If we're going to play this high line at free kicks surely the keeper should be prepared to command the area behind the defenders. If you look at his starting position it was almost exactly where the header was scored from but he backed off once the kick was taken.

Cech - One near-mistake but otherwise solid - 7

Bosingwa - Was found wanting a couple of times but otherwise ok; fairly good going forward - 6.5

Luiz - Excellent on the ball, great drives forward before they switched to two up front. Also very alert defensively and put in a good shift at the back - 7.5

Terry - Top-notch as usual. Got involved in buildup play himself and finished with a pass completion rate of 98% having made 85 successful passes. - 7.5

Cole - Decent contribution going forward and solid defensively although I doubt he'll have many easier afternoons. - 7

Meireles - A bit disappointing for me, especially in the first half. Gave the ball away cheaply on occasion although made a contribution defensively - 6

Ramires - Fairly quiet game by his standards - 6

Lampard - Excellent performance, was getting involved everywhere and took his goals well. Reminiscent of classic Lampard, hopefully he can bring it for the bigger teams - 8.5

Sturridge - A bit lucky with one of the goals but that shouldn't take away from a top performance where he was good in creating as well as executing play. His claim on a starting spot grows greater by the week... - 8

Drogba - Unselfish although unspectacular game. He was good in buildup play and worked hard to break down the opposition but still looked a bit sluggish. Good to see him back - 7

Mata - Was good again although not at his best and got involved more at the back. Good assist from the corner - 6.5

----

Ivanovic - Probably a good choice to bring him on and the defence was notably better after his introduction. The spectacular (if technically unsuccessful) goalline clearance was impressive too. - 7

Mikel - Gave the ball away scandalously near the beginning but other than that was fairly unnoticeable. Apparently had a pass completion rate of 95%. - 5.5

Anelka - Seem to remember him being alright although I can't recall anything he did - 6

Seems like Lamps and Sturridge are different players from Old Trafford when it was widely agreed they were awful.

What is the difference, the tactics ? or the opposition ?

Have to agree. Josh must be very disappointed at the lack of opportunities at the moment. If this has to continue he must go on loan in Jan.

I see what your saying... but im a goalkeeper so as part of the union i score upwards because we genneraly start in negative marking

The opposition were awful. Sturridge's two goals might not have been against a slightly better defense. One was a horrible defending from corner and other a pretty awful goalkeeping error. Not bashing Studge as otherwise too he played pretty well but the goals were completely avoidable.

I also think because of Bolton's shambles we never had to move up from the second gear which suited Lampard's pace. Some of our play was lovely no doubt but the opponents provided a huge helping hand.
