Europa League

Featured Replies

So, there's quite a big chance that we'll be playing in the Europa League next season, as much as we don't want it to be the case.

I personally think that if we are in it, we should try to win it. It's a trophy that we haven't won before, and some of the teams in it are pretty good. I hate the fact that English teams don't take it seriously (Redknapp the w**ker made sure spuds got knocked out, hope they miss out on CL too) and would personally love to win it.

What about you guys?

not even on the radar until the 20th May to me, and then I hope to be saying glad where not in it

no sh*t.

Point is, if we do end up in it, how would you feel about the competition? would you have the same retarded attitude as 'arry or would you hope we win it?

We'll deal with that once/if it occurs.

That being said, at least it does provide some European competition revenue, even if only a fraction of the Champions League, so it's not an entire loss.

If we were to play in it then why not give it a go. However i think it would be a good chance in the early stages to give some of the youth a chance and to give some of the older boys a rest.

Last nights final was pretty good...we should be looking to win any cup competion we're in, tempered by the need to do better in the league next year of course...I don't want to be one of these people who think we're too good for the Europa, if we are in it next season its exactly what we deserve...

We don't have a god given right to be in the CL year on year (although if we win in the final on May 19th I'll start to believe that RDM has been touched by the hand of God )

no sh*t.

i would like to see us go out and win it but if I am really honest I do feel it is full of Europes nearly but not that goodteams cup .

I really hope it doesn't happen but we could play some teams we have never played before which would be interesting , good for the airmiles

My greatest wish right now is that we win the Champions League and get to play there again next season.

BUT. If we fail then we should try to win this. It's not the greatest competition, but it's a title nonetheless and I'm sure that winning it will bring atleast some money to the club. Better than nothing.

Of course, if we've got a real chance at the league title next season that will probably be our top priority.

I think Europa's looked down on a little too much here, no it's not the CL but it's still a european competition with some great sides. Bilbao outclassed manure and they hardly played a weakened team, and I honestly think we'd have struggled to beat either of the teams in the final over two legs on this seasons form so it annoys me when some fans feel that English teams are too good for the competition.

I would love to see Newcastle win it, actually.

your have a point there . Didn't Porto win it the other year with ths great young manager ............can't think what his name is now ?????

Yes the Europa cup is a decent trophy to have in the cabinet, but if we win in Munich, we just wasted forum bandwidth on something that might be years away from ever happening.

AVB did at least one thing right...

He hired RDM as his assistant. :good2:

Discussing things on a forum? what next, actually trying to score goals?! preposterous.

For me, our champions league final rests on Luiz and Cahill being fit. We won't have a chance unless their fit.

Screw the europa league. Go for the top 3 and an F.A Cup again.

Why does it we beat Barca well drew at the Nou camp without Luiz, Cahill off injured in 15mins and Terry sent off in half hour we can beat anyone if we want to.

The moment a European trophy is not worth fighting for, is the moment I'm ready to give up on football.

There is nothing more than i would love for the club, players, and supporters is to beat Bayen and bring old big ears back to the bridge. However if we do end up playing in the Europa league i feel we have to go all out and win it, thats without putting our premier league campaign in jeopardy.

Blood some of the youngster against the really weak teams to get them hungry, and to give them a taste for the whole playing in Europe thing.Oh and by the way i have just been told the Europa final is in Amsterdam. So that begs the question. Champions league final at boring old Wembley or Europa league final in Amsterdam.

We had our midfield protecting them remember. We're not going to be playing everyone behind the ball against munich. At least I hope not.
