Myles_91 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 It's an absolute disgrace but I'm not complaining.. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4413277/Newcastles-pleas-to-shift-their-Europa-League-play-off-on-August-23-have-been-ignored-by-UEFA.html Imagine if Newcastle have to play Bursaspor away? 23/08 8pm: Match Starts 10pm: Match Finishes 24/08 A near 7 hour flight back to the UK and then the next day a near 6 hour coach journey to London. Bam! Match This was probably the one fixture out of the first 5 or so I was worried about but we should beat them comfortably now. Cheers UEFA
Uno Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Surely that will change. I bet the FA rearrange the game.
dkw Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 The FA should rearrange the game, even though it favours us its just stupid to expect them to do that.
PloKoon13 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 What other games are on that weekend? It's not like we have Champions League or cup fixtures so other than Babylon Sky getting in the way there shouldn't be a problem with playing on Monday or something.
Uno Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 He meant Geordie Yes this, sorry i wasnt really looking what i was typing. That happens a lot when I should be working.
The Moos Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Not really surprised the play-off game wasn't moved. Surely that doesn't happen very often? Not that it makes UEFA any less of a*seholes. They still are a f*cking disgrace. I think the FA will move the PL game though. The league are bit more flexible.
Scooby Blue Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 (edited) Only yesterday ESPN announced the game against Newcastle will be shown live at 5.30pm on the Saturday. Surely they'd have known that the Geordies would most probably be playing on the Thursday with that being UEFA's chosen day for Europa League. On the flip side we have the Super Cup the following Friday and have extra time to prepare. Still surely a Sunday slot would have made more sense. Sky games that weekend - Sat 25: Swansea v West Ham (12.45pm), Sun 26: Stoke v Arsenal (1.30pm), Sun 26: Liverpool v Man City (4pm). They could change it to 3pm Sunday, which is quite common with sides in the Europa League, or swap it with Stoke v Arsenal (unlikely to happen) Ok, I have an agenda here. I might not be able to make the game iwith it being 5.30pm Saturday, but I can if it's Sunday Edited July 6, 2012 by Scooby Blue
Bluehatter Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 6 hour coach journey to london? You really think they would get the coach?
MKBlue Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 I'd love to think that Chelsea would do everything in their power to help Newcastle here, it could be the start of English clubs flipping the bird to UEFA. So let them fly straight back to London, stay at the Chelsea hotel and train at the Bridge, they did very well to even qualify for Europe in their first season back in the top flight and if we're to beat them I'd like it to be on a level a playing field as is possible.

Sportsmanship still exists! In all seriousness, not a bad idea. Let's get some good PR for a change.
Uno Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 What???? f**k 'em. Let the barcodes travel all over land and sea. It's their problem not ours. No one would do it for us.
