Thorgan Hazard Joins Chelsea

Not sure if anyone knows about this but saw it come up through Facebook, and didn't see a thread on it. Thought it looked quite interesting. We now have two Hazard's, what does everyone think? Obviously not a massive signing but thought I'd share it anyway.

Chelsea Football Club has completed the signing of Thorgan Hazard from FC Lens.

At 19 years of age, Thorgan is two years younger than his brother Eden, who joined Chelsea from Lille this summer, but is of similar height and build and plays a similar range of attacking positions.

Thorgan too has been learning his trade at a club in northern France, having moved to Lens as a 14-year-old. He graduated into the senior squad for the 2011/12 season and made his debut as a substitute in the first league match of the season, going on to make 14 league appearances in total.

A Belgian youth international, he represented his nation at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level and played at the 2011 European Under-19 Championship.

Both of Thorgan and Eden's parents were footballers, and Thorgan in his early years was at the same club as his brother - Tubize in Belgium.

He will now join our Under-21 squad, managed by Dermot Drummy, to continue his pre-season training and a loan move is being considered to continue his development.

Should they both play for the Chelsea first team, the Hazards will join a list of previous Chelsea brothers - Ray and Graham Wilkins, Ron and Allan Harris, John and Peter Sillett and Chris and William Ferguson.

The club can also confirm deals have been completed for three young players to go on loan for the season - attacking midfielder/forward Ulises Davila to Spanish second division team Sabadell and striker Milan Lakovic and goalkeeper Matej Delac to Guimaraes in the Portuguese top flight.

Bit of a strange 1. He's not that good yet, and not that young either. That's 1 spot lost for the local youth players.

that depends on the motives....If it helps big brother settle, resulting in better perfomances, then it may be money well spent.

This is the only thread outside of the rumours section for Thorgan Hazard, I know it's old so apologies for bumping it.

I've only caught a few Zulte Waregem games this season, and have been impressed with the lad.

They're playing Anderlecht right now, top 2 teams in the Belgian league and Zulte have a game in hand so it's a must win game so they can close the gap of 9 points. It's got off to a great start, Hazard put their centre forward through on goal and he missed a guilt edged chance, he's looking very sharp, good passing, and beating players at will.

Here's a spoiler link to the stream of the game if any one wants to have a look (excuse the poor quality).

Thorgan selected for national team.

Motm yesterday against FC Bruges, he scored.

If his team wins sunday against Anderlecht, they'll be champions and play CL next season.

Two goals and two assists wasn't it? and Eden will shave his head if they win the league.

Indeed.

There is a chance Chelsea meets Waregem in the Champions League next season, Eden vs Thorgan (if he's allowed to play ofcourse)

conflict of interest, Chelsea never allow on loan players to play against them such as Lukaku being made to sit out our games for WBA this season.

Caught a few Waregem games this season and was impressed by Thorgan every time I saw him. He really does look head and shoulders above everyone when he plays, his touch, vision and passing is a step ahead of his opponents. Didn't know he got called up for the national team, delighted for the guy. Next season is very important for his development though. There's no guarantee that they will qualify for the Champions League proper next season and also the fact that the Belgian league isn't the greatest quality I think he should be loaned elsewhere. Not sure if we should loan him to an English club either, Spain or Germany would enhance his technical abilities greatly, and then see how that goes for him.
Maybe he could be the alternative for Schurrle that Voller is craving at Leverkusen?, I know he's not as developed as their wanted man De Bruyne, but Thorgan seems to be a good fit, and there's the possibility of him getting Champions league football too (permitting they get to the group stage). Just food for thought more than anything.
