We have 15 midfielders, and 2 strikers

Featured Replies

Just picking my Fantasy Football team, and noticed this:

1) Mata

2) Lampard

3) Ramires

4) Miereles

5) Benayoun

6) Malouda

7) Mikel

8) Essien

9) Romeu

10) McEachran

11) Piazon

12) Hazard

13) Marin

14) Oscar

15) Bertrand?

Then the strikers:

1) Torres

2) Sturridge

Hmm? I'm guessing/hoping to see some more action in the transfer market, but even bringing in Moses as rumoured won't necessarily help with this as he couldn't play up front on his own.

Also makes it a f**king nightmare for my Fantasy team as I don't know who to pick! Oscar? Lampard? Mata? Ramires? Hazard?

We have 5 spots in the team for midfielders and one for strikers.

I also doubt that all these midfielders will be in the team when the transfer window closes

Bertrand's primarily a defender, whatever fantasy football says, Piazon's going to be spending most of the season in the U21 league, and McEachran (loan), Malouda, and Benayoun are all likely to be headed out the door - or if the last two aren't sold, there's also going to be no great urge to give them playing time. So that gets it down to ten players actually hoping for time; still a lot, but a bit less ridiculous.

^ Meireles may be on the way out too, with Napoli and Spurs rumoured to be interested.

Moses and Hulk may well be arriving, and they'll be vying for those wide spots too, as well as covering for striker.

Thats why Lukaku should have sucked it up and stayed on. Even if we sign another striker, there are 4 players for that position, and Sturridge usually plays out wide.

But with Ramires and possibly Hulk and/or Moses coming we've got two players for the right wing (more if Marin, Mata or Hazard can play there as well), so I think Sturridge is meant to play up front this season.

To be honest i class wingers as forwards anyway so to me Hazard and Mata ( if he plays on the wing ) are not proper midfield players. Also i would count Piazon as striker , if he gets games i expect him to play as a striker.

I definitely do not class wingers as strikers. VERY different in fact.

How about FloMo as emergency striker? He's not the weakest, got a bit of pace, proven goalscoring record, and everyone's always complaining that he's too selfish.

I'm guessing you've only seen Piazon during pre season. He plays predominantly on the left wing for U21/Reserves and Youth team and is at his best running at the defence.

Yeah i have seen him a few times on the wing but i think striker suits him better.

We desperately need more firepower in the way of strikers. Spurs have the same amount as us and everyone is screaming about how they need another. It's made awkward because Torres is clearly our #1 but his form isn't guaranteed (by a long shot) and if he's injured then we're truly screwed.

I don't trust Sturridge to regularly score.

I do.

Spurs need another striker because the ones they have are sh*t. Defoe is ridiculously inconsistent, and their youngster is just that, a youngster who is far from good enough to lead the line yet.

We have Torres, who has been great since RDM came in, and Sturridge, who you don't seem to trust but most of us do, and think we need to trust in order to develop him rather than bringing in someone ahead of him and remaining a graveyard for young talent. Surely his goal tally from the first half of last season, from right wing (position he hadn't played before/doesn't want to play) shows that he CAN regularly score?

Defensive Midfielders:

Lampard

Mikel

Romeu

"Ramires"

Attacking Midfielders:

Mata

Hazard

Marin

Oscar

"Bertrand"

"Sturridge"

Sell:

Malouda

Essien

Miereles

Benayoun

Loan:

McEachran

Piazon

De bruyne

Our weak spot is defensive midfielders, I hope we can sell some players before window closes and hopefully bring one in. Mikel, Romeu and Lampard all suffer when the game is high paced.

A couple of things I take issue with there:

1. Can people please stop labelling Sturridge an AM. He's not. He doesn't want to be. Just because he did a job there last season doesn't make him an attacking midfielder or winger. Torres played on the wing against Munich, doesn't make him a winger. We have two strikers and he's one of them. If we had too many strikers and wanted to play him on the wing to get him into the team that'd be fair enough, but right now he's one of our out and out strikers.

2. I think it's very optimistic to think that we'll get rid of four unwanted players in the last 10 days of the transfer window when we haven't been able to shift them for the past two months. Unforunately the wages we pay are too high and other teams won't take them on, even though Malouda and Benayoun could do a job elsewhere. I think that, if we're lucky, we'll get rid of one or two of them - Meireles is most likely to go, but also probably most useful (though I think Essien should still be given a chance considering what he's done for the club)

We absolutely need to buy a striker for cover..

However, I want to see Torres get a lot of game time to see if the new lads can get him firing the goals in.

I dont see Ramires as a DM more a AM if anything

Getting rid of Essien and Meireles is a no in my opinon Essien has done so much just because last season he wasn't at his best when he did play and Meireles at the back end of last season was pretty decent.
