Snedger Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I see that UEFA have announced the details of this game now; Friday 31st August 20:45 CET at the Stade Louis II in Monaco (the last time it is being held there after 15 years). The Premier league kicks off on the 18th of August so we will have had the charity shield and at least 2 league fixtures before we travel to France to play Atletico Madrid. I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on getting tickets for this? I quite fancied going, as for many of us who had no chance of a ticket for Munich it is a another chance to see the Blues play somewhere hot and sunny and hopefully lift a tin pot (admittedly not the most important one going). But it is a very small stadium and only holds 18’500 and for the last 13 years it has been near as damn it full for the game. UEFA allocate roughly 5000 tickets to each club, so I assume this will be a season ticket holder only event again, and then the remaining 7000 tickets are sold by application through their website. They then hold a draw to pick the successful applicants in late July. So my gut feeling is that I will be watching this on TV too.
TorresRightBoot Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 The Charity Shield is also held in a smaller venue to normal this year so what are the chances of us non season ticket holders getting a ticket for the game ? Villa Park Holds 42,700 were as Wembley holds 90,000
Snedger Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) The Charity Shield is also held in a smaller venue to normal this year so what are the chances of us non season ticket holders getting a ticket for the game ? Villa Park Holds 42,700 were as Wembley holds 90,000 Probably get about 15'000 tickets each, so little or no chance for members again. It really does pay to be a season ticket holder if you can afford it. And even then it doesn't guarentee tickets for European Cup, Super Cup or Charity Shield tickets. When we played in the Super Cup last time there was only crowd of about 10'000 (the lowest ever Super Cup attendance). Just shows how the demand to watch the Blues has exploded in the last 10 years or so. Edited May 29, 2012 by Snedger
KrazyTea Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Tickets or no tickets, I am really excited for the Super Cup. Bring on the trophies, just have to deal with Falcao.
torres9 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Doesn't it tend to be corporate nonsense at the Super Cup?
Ruh Buh Juh Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 It's on my birthday. If we lose, I will accept responsibility, me and my family don't have much luck with games on our birthdays...
Eight Times Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 It's on my birthday. If we lose, I will accept responsibility, me and my family don't have much luck with games on our birthdays... I remember the most boring Chelsea game I've ever seen happening on my birthday. April 25th, 1998 or 1999?, was against Sheffield Wednesday, and it finished 0-0, don't think there was a shot on goal, utterly terrible.
Pudge Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 have booked flights and a hotel using my ba miles so only cost the taxes and have taken a chance. Being a ST who didn't get to Munich am hoping that as its smack bang in the middle of school holidays loads will still be away and we will get the tickets either through the club or through UEFA. Also although the flights are cheap the hotels are not and nor is eating and drinking in Monaco( think double London prices) hoping that puts a few more off . Our hotel room in a standard MarriottHotel rack rate was £550 for the night ! Luckily it was free and is right next to the ground Hopefully meet a few of you there
Snedger Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 Wow, that is expensive. Ok, so I’ll keep an eye on the ticket situation and maybe it’s possible to either stay outside of Monaco or just hope the weather is good and sleep on a beach. But I’ll probably just save the money and try and go for the World Club Cup instead. Of course that will not exactly be cheap either, but I can’t see very many at all going all the way out there just before Christmas, so tickets should be easy to get through the club.
EmeraldBlue Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 You can get a €1 public bus from Monaco to Nice and other French towns, where it should be possible to get better deals (although that part of the world is expensive, it will be better than the price quoted above.).
Pudge Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 yep there are plenty of cheaper hotels within a 5 mile radius but nothing much left in Monaco itself the train from Nice to Monaco is €5 single and its a nice trip - when we played in Marseille in 2000 we stayed in Nice and got the train down it was a nice trip along the coast
KrazyTea Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 No chatter on the cup game in the little kingdom yet? Anyone going?
Eight Times Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 My most anticipated game of the season! Shame I'm not going. A load of us are gonna get together at mine, get loads of Chinese food from the local take away, few drinks, even letting the kids stay up for this. I don't care what anyone says, this is another European trophy, let's go for it.
Cam Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 You never know when you'll get another shot at it, so hopefully the club can add this to the trophy room.
KrazyTea Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I don't care what anyone says, this is another European trophy, let's go for it. I'm with ya completely Seven!
Scott Harris Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Desperately want this one , you don't get many chances to win it so it would be really nice to win. Falcao will be dangerous.
icecoolguy22 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Is our second choice GK playing for them ?
CarefreeCFC Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Is our second choice GK playing for them ? Thibaut Courtois, that is correct.
KrazyTea Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Thibaut Courtois, that is correct. He plays for them but can he play against us? I thought not.
That Boy Brandinho Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Is our second choice GK playing for them ? Unfortunately, Turnbull is not playing for them.
Maksimov Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Desperately want this one , you don't get many chances to win it so it would be really nice to win. Two out of two would be awesome. Even teams like ManU and Real Madrid have won it only once, even though they've played in the Super Cup several times.
The Moos Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 He plays for them but can he play against us? I thought not. He can play against us and will. Read somewhere that he's really looking forward to this game and will do his best to stop us.
