Is Lionel Messi to blame for CFC dominance?

Featured Replies

The article is also relevant if you argue that if Terry's penalty was an inch towards the left and on the right in 2008 that he would still be writing the same article, that's sports get over it.

Let's say Messi scores, then it could have ended 3-2 to Barcelona, 3-3 on aggregate and us going through on away goals.

In other words, that article is a joke.

That's not really true. If Messi scores, then Barca have the lead on aggregate and therefore have no need to push everybody up which allowed Torres to get behind the defense and score our second goal. The article is still rubbish, of course.

I got a bored before I finshed the article but the bitterness was comical. The green eyed monster very evident.....

Did someone say the writer was an Arsenal fan?? Say no more, it all makes sense now......

Oh how those c**ts didn't want us to win the big one before them..... winning the European cup really is the gift that just keeps on giving!

True, but it would also have meant that we would have pushed forward and could also have scored.

And as much as it is impossible to say that we would have scored a goal after Messi scored his, it's just as impossible to say that we wouldn't have.

Pushing forward against Barca wouldn't have been a sensible strategy. We might have scored after Messi, but we certainly wouldn't have scored in the manner that we did. More than likely, we'd have lost if Messi converted the penalty. Not written in stone, but definitely the logical outcome.

But football isn't always logical

Hirshey is just a bitter prick. He'll slag us off any chance he gets. He thinks he's "cute" in his journalistic style when it's just really painful to read. Even if I was just a neutral fan I would think of him as just a jealous and bitter fool.

Three words for you Mr. Hirshey...

Champions of Europe.

We'll probably win it again before they have even won it once.

I don't care about the league I'd chop off an arm and a leg to see their faces if we retained the CL IN LONDON. Spuds, Goons and Spammers would be throwing themselves into the Thames.

The Daily Mail has more journalistic integrity than Soccernet have quality writers.

I couldn't believe it when Gab Marcotti started writing for them, doesn't he have anything better to do with his time?
