It's been an extremely messy and unpleasant season for the vast majority of our fans this year. Last year's incredible high and truly amazing sensation was short lived, but something that will forever live in the memory for us supporters... truly special nights.

Under Robbie we had something to really roar about, a true blue and club hero, replaced by a man we have loathed for years. The shortsightedness of the owner and board was truly staggering - and still is.

Fast forward months and months of frustration and disappointments we now find ourselves potentially on the verge of reach two cup finals... usually that's great, fandabbydozy; but for me personally I am experiencing an unaccustomed, paradoxical feeling of Catch 22.

On one hand we could become the true Kings of Europe, for 10 days at least. Has anyone ever held the Champions League one season and the Europa league the next?

The FA Cup - another great cup competition, which we have dominated in recent years. I'd love us to get yet another mark added to our record books, I love that competition.

The flip side of this coin (if we win a cup of two), is that Roman will probably feel justified in the sacking of Robbie (even though Di Matteo clearly could have at the very least matched, or bettered Benitez's reign).

When the dust settles and the curtains of the season comes down yet again, will Roman have learned his lesson?

If it all went utterly pear shaped instead, would he learn better?

No, I don't think so. And we'd be only the fourth club to win every single UEFA competition. It would be something the likes ManU and Liverpool haven't been able to do and as the Cup Winners' Cup no longer exists, it would be impossible for Liverpool to achieve the record. Talking of Liverpool...

We currently have seven FA Cup wins, and should we win, I think we'd overtake both Liverpool (seven wins) and Spurs (eight wins, but we have more final appearances) in the all time winners' table.

I sincerely hope Benitez will be gone in the summer no matter what happens, which is why I hope we can win the double.

its such an awkward situation. love chelsea, hate rafa. the prospect of rafa's gloating face, with a winners medal around his neck gleefully telling the media how he ahd turned the club around and made the fans happy etc would probably make me vomit and ruin the big moment. however, the trophies will last forever, and this fat man will be gone. until now, ive not been bothered if we went out of the cups or not as long as we got 4th place, but seeing as we're in the semi's so we've got to play these games anyway, we might as well go on and win them as its not going to affect our fixture congestion anyway. fa cup final should be a gimme if we get there anyway. success will be despite rafa, i just hope nothing makes roman reconsider his future!

He should have learned his lesson by now. We were 4 points behind United when muggins took charge. And we lost against Corinthians in the most difficult competition to get in to.

Roman is 100% an autocrat....So dont hold your breath o whether he learns a lesson or not......He owns the gaff...Hell make whatever decisions suit him....I understand that to a point....Its his toy....I just wish he and the fans were closer in understanding each other

Managers come and go, trophies stay in the cabinet for ever. Lets win them in spite of FSW. Lets be one of only a few teams to have won the lot. Lets pull away from spurs in the trophy count and over take Villa as the 4th most successful team in the country while all the time closing in on Arsenal in 3rd in the country and most successful in London.

If we win 2 trophies this season i'll be dammed if i'm going to let FSW in anyway take the edge of my enjoyment, after all its our club not his so Fu*k him.

Then next season we get a new manager and start again, with a big push for the title.

Being an autocrat isn't the same as being too stupid to learn from his mistakes. And even if the last word is his, I'm sure he consults his staff all the time. I'm not he shouldn't get at least part of the blame for disasters like The Interim One, but my guess is that he trusted his staff too much in that case.

Regardless of what we win this season, I think he knows he went too far this time, we begrudgingly accepted the sackings of Jose and King Carlo, but it's been made abundantly clear that the way he ditched Robbie and brought in the FSW was the anvil that broke the camels back, and I do think he wants to be adored by the fans and have us sing his name, so hopefully this is the last time we see him make a cock up of such epic proportions.

no one else spot the irony of this post? doesnt this scenario sound at all familiar with a previous coach of ours?!

RDM won the bloody CL and roman obviously wasnt convinced of the guy. i dont think the EL and/or the FA cup will convince him of benetiz either

Hello Hello Chel-sis!

Greetings from Basel !

We already look forward to face you in EL semi-finals ! Hoping for 2 exciting games where clearly the Blues are favorite! But Football is Football....everything is possible :JC_doubleup:

by the way....

Does "Catch 22" mean that you will try to catch our number 22 Mohamed SALAH during the 2 games ?? Good Luck

What do you expect Roman to learn?  I believe this will be the first time when a interm manager has been so dissapointing yet that changes with 2 cups and a top 4 finish. Hiddink got us the FA cup. RDM the CL and FA cup. Grant almost got a few including the CL.  I don't think Roman's managerial decisions are entirely based on results. I think he wants his manager like his players, a big name with flair.

Roman may have learned the importance of making sure the fans are onside with the new manager, but I doubt he will re-think sacking managers when he deems fit.
