Mikel To Monaco?

Featured Replies

Despite the arrival of Jeremy Toulalan (29 years), from Malaga, Monaco currently studying the profile of John Obi Mikel (26), the Chelsea midfielder, whose contract expires in June 2017. According to several sources, the club from the Principality still plans to build in this area of play this in mind, the Super Eagle has the required profile. Jose Mourinho, the new manager of the Blues should not oppose his departure in case of offers of around twenty million euros. In addition to the ASM (who also thinks Guingamp Gianelli Imbula particular), Naples and Galatasaray are also in the running.

Left to me I would prefer Mikel to stay at Chelsea, It's a long season , Last Season we played 69 games, with need a huge squad with at least 2 players for every spot.

And then have who else for the CDM? Seeing that Romeu is likely to be loaned?

Glad De Rossi is coming, if the ever growing rumours are true, but we still need another good CDM, seeing that we are likely to play upto the same amount of games we played last season. For me, I can't rely on Essien now, Ramires on the other hand, i don't really think he suits the double pivot.

Essien, Ramires and even Luiz are capable of providing cover for that position if De Rossi (should he come) get injured or suspended. Also, what's the sense in having Essien, Mikel, De Rossi, Lampard, Van Ginkel, Ramires and De Bruyne all fighting for 2 positions (assuming we stick to the system we play now)?

I think it's De Rossi Mikel and Essien in one position and Lampard Van Ginkel Ramires and De Brunye in the other. Can see De Bruyne in the attacking band but would prefer him deeper with Lampard and Essien not playing as much this season then I don't think we'll have to many options, Luiz will play CB for me.

We could probably get a similar fee if we melted down all the trophies he's won

He's won?

What, he won them all single handedly?!!!

Of course not, but by that logic no footballer has ever won a major trophy in the history of football.

But come on, using your logic it's like Mikel was a major factor in those trophies!

Tell you what, we'll melt down those trophies and then work out his contribution percentage wise after the likes of Lamps, JT, Drogba, Cech, Essien, Cole etc etc and he might well be left with a few bob!!

To be fair there are a lot of teams we play that we dont even really need a DM playing. Plaing Place at home for example we wouldnt need a DM playing.

That I believe has played a part in Mikel`s downfall here, its just not a game he should be involved in and fans get on his back when he plays his usual game against the lesser sides. Play him against teams where we will definitely need protection in front of defence and he more often than not will produce.

TRABZONSPOR have joined Turkish rivals Galatasaray in the race for Chelsea star John Obi Mikel.

The Nigerian holding midfielder, 26, remains under contract at Stamford Bridge.
He is currently on holiday after playing at the Confederations Cup, won by hosts Brazil.
But he admitted last month that he is unsure whether he has a long-term future in London under returning manager Jose Mourinho.
Galatasaray, where former Blues team-mate Didier Drogba now plays, made their move last month and now their old Super Lig foes are also pushing for the £16million-rated star.
The Nigeria international has spent seven years with Chelsea after joining in a controversial move from Lyn Oslo in 2006.

The Sun reckon he is still Turkey bound if anywhere.

Hahah. Mikel will never get the respect he is entitiled to in the forum but lets not go there...

If we get De Rossi Mikel will be a backup at best so this would be a very good time to sell him IMO. Only 26 and he probably upped his price and bettered his image in the game against Spain. Italy would be a good destination for a player with limited pace. £12mill...

Spot on. Any player apart from a goal keeper who doesnt have much to do in a game isnt going to be look upon greatly. If Mikel breaks up the odd attack and then passes a short sideways pass people will moan because the attack wont be quick enough. But against teams like Barca or United the DM role is very important.

Sorry to use Place as an example again but against them at home i would play Oscar and Lamps in the 2 CM roles. Both can put in a tackle but both can move the attack on quickly in different ways.

hopefully he remains at Chelsea, can't wait for the transfer window to be closed. All these speculations with no concrete evidence except the same recycled stories from the sun cracks me up.

Im not so keen on him staying. With the players we are bringing in and hopefully some of the youth coming through Mikel will find himself left behind. He will get less and less game time and will leave. Now is a good time to sell.

dailymail sold mikel ages ago! everyday they sell him to a different club, he is a world class player, he should be performing at the highest level, he can walk into the first team of the top sides in Europe, why Monaco??? at the same time, have Chelsea made any intentions of selling him? Mourinho might actually watch the tapes of the confederation cup and try him in a different position, Mikel could actually become Chelsea playmaker
