I don't disagree but what we do miss is a captain. Lamps is an awful vice captain.

I am not so fussed about JT missing the game Sunday - more fussed if it turns out to be more long term.

Missing him long term is huge problem but if its just ankle, it shouldn't take him more than 2/3 weeks to return. 128.gif

Totaly agree. JT missing sundays game isn't good news since it is a final and we do want to win it. But it's not the end of the world if he just can be back soon. Essien has been good in the back but he isn't good in the air.

And we do need a captain. Lampard is the first choice concidering who he is but he is not a great leader unfortunately. I never thought I'd say this but I would like to see Carvalho as captain. He has stepped up as a leader in the back when JT was out and has really learnt to take control (unlike Lamps).

I dont know about you guys but fro we have seen I think Essien is more than well equipped to take care of either Adebayor or even Onriiii.

Onriii won't play. Wenger said that since he hasn't played earlier in the cup then he won't play in the final.

Though we all now how full of turd.gif he is icon_rolleyes.gif

... Arsenal aren't good in the air, either.

But this is a blow, for sure.

After JT was off the importance of yesterday`s score becomes second to none.

If he will be on 6 weeks spell then I think it`s a crisis again. Only 1 CD left.

But, yes, of course, A.Cole is returning. Good substitute. For Bridge(Yes, yes, I know it`s arguable), not for JT. icon_sad.gif

It looked to me that he suffered a nasty sprain, but nothing more than that. I would expect him to be out for approx two weeks.

I think 6 weeks is a bit sensationalist.

Certainly will miss this Sunday, probably Portsmouth away, maybe Porto's return trip, but Spurs at home in the cup? He would'nt miss that for the world.

Its a blow, but its not a disaster.

Losing Cech again wouldve been a disaster.

Its only a few weeks ago we had Hilliario in goal with Paulo and Essien as centre backs!

Quite simply Riccy needs to be wrapped in cotton wool and not allowed within 5 miles of anyone who has had a cold in the past year. He now becomes our most important player, not our best player, but our most important one.

Essien and Riccy is a good defence partnership and with Cech behind them we will still be solid, but as has been pointed out we will miss a leader (if it were up to me id have Drogs as captain)

Sadly we will miss Essiens drive in the middle but we have enough quality there to prevail. We have to make do and its up to some of our players to step up and respond.

Fingers crossed JT will be out for no more than a month. But like i said, this is no disaster.

ps - Ive given up on Robben as a Chelsea player now i really have.

A further lay off for JT is a concern. Essien is getting better & better filling in at CB, but he will never be as good in that position as JT. Playing there occasionally is no problem but I think long term and we could suffer. As others have pointed out, we then miss Essien's drive in midfield and with him not in midfield the chances are Ballack will play more often than not icon_sad.gif

And with JT, not only do we miss his leadership and defensive qualities but we don't offer as much of a threat from corners and set pieces going forward.

I am much more worried about the run in now, I think we can safely say JT will be out for a month and we just have to get on with it and look at making sure Riccy stays fit and Maka plays every game when hes out to help defend the back four,

anyone know if Bouzie is nearly fit yet? its time he showed what he was bought to do as a CD and if the absense of JT could bring him on the way it has Riccy (who has become a far better player since he has had a huge responsibility) we could get by ok.

Just seen Boula is out for a month but will delay surgery to his shoulder

till the end of the season so its nip and tuck who gets back first him or JT.

Essien good though he undoubtably is at filling in as has been said is needed pushing forward and doing what he does best(everything really)

We should have him do what the Japanese do, which is to wear protective facemask. icon_eek.gif

irony? second top assist maker at the club (how many more would that have been if he were a guaranteed starter etc?), and visibly our most dangerous player after drogba this season.

and do you for one second really believe the sub was anything other than tactical yesterday? I really can't.

i just dont think you can plan to have a player in your team/squad when there is a 50/50 chance he is going to get injured

its not as if he does a lot when he plays anyway

Yes, he is injury prone but he came on against Boro made a goal, came on against Porto and did the same. Yesterday's substitution was clearly a tactical one as we saw JOM was ready to come for JT but then Porto scored and JM knew Robben was our best bet to get one back and threw him on.

I can see why people are criticizing Ballack for doing nothing but how can you say Robben's career as a Chelsea player is over when he has been on the field he has looked threatening. I know its frustrating to see him injured all the time but the least we could do is stick with him because he certainly has the talent to justify our support.

Terry could be back in two weeks, say Chelsea

The initial prognosis was between four and six weeks out which would cause grave damage to Chelsea's prospects as they come into what manager Jose Mourinho has called the "business end" of the season - with Manchester United still six points ahead in the Premiership race.

[...]

But yesterday, Chelsea's medical team were starting to appear cautiously optimistic even if Terry has certainly been ruled out of Sunday's League Cup final against Arsenal. The hope is that the central defender may be able to recover in two to three weeks although that means he will miss the away trip in the league to Portsmouth and the return leg against Porto.

fair enough fellas, i get what you are saying. i perhaps wrote what i wrote out of frustration over yet another 'injury'. the bloke drives me mad and not just through his greedyness on the pitch!

for the record i never said his chelsea career was over though, i just said id given up on it!
