No manager has survived a trophyless season under RA...

Featured Replies

I'm going to start this post with a disclaimer please read carefully; this is not a wind up,this is not a kneejerk reaction to recent results, I love Jose as much as anyone. Thank you.

Just curious as to why the possibility of Jose being shown the door isn't being discussed at least. Do we think that Mr A has learned his lesson? Did I miss any definite statements from the club that says Jose will get multiple seasons no matter what? How can you reconcile a CL winner being shown the door with a possible empty cabinet?

The FSW won something last season with essentially the same strike force. Now I know many of us (including Jose) is looking on this season as a transition, but when have the views of us fans (or the manager!) had any weight with the club? The sacking of RDM and the hiring of FSW are just a couple of examples.

Like I said (it bears repeating on here) this isn't a wind up, but knowing Mr A's way of doing things, why isn't the possibility being discussed? Why do you think he will definitely be here next season?

I think our recent transfer dealings show the change in mind set at the club. Young hungry players are now our target with a view to building a long term squad and for that managerial stability us needed. We were told to with 5 or 6 years to see the fruition of the major upgrade of the academy and we are now at the crux of that time scale, again managerial stability is needed to bring these young players through.

If Jose was asked to leave after everything said in the Summer Roman would be chased out of Chelsea.

That's the reality.

We have this season already bettered last season with a title challenge and CL Quarters.

It's progress which was all that was expected as per Joses comments in the Summer.

I also don't think Jose would be talking about transition and saying top 3 is the aim if he wasn't already told by the board that he will not be sacked if we end up trophyless. I really think RA knows this club needs stability, he has his holy grail and he's seen what its like without Jose. Jose is very honest aswell if he was told to win something I'm sure we'd all know he was.

Can't believe we have to have this topic.

Anyway, if Jose leaves because of one trophyless season it might be the final straw for a lot of supporters.

A trophyless season in the name of stability is something a lot of people wanted and now its happening and people are squirming.

Imagine if some people actually had to stand by their words of a season or two out of the CL in the name of stability.

I was thinking about this last night as well. Unless we stage a breathtaking recovery we've effectively cocked up our entire season in the space of a week (obviously cocking up the league has been a more long-term process of cockups against similar opposition but you get my point) and I wondered whether it would infuriate the higher-ups enough to do the unthinkable, although considering some of the rhetoric coming from Mourinho about how much he loves the club and how he wants to stay here for ten years or more, plus the hurricane of fury unleashed upon the board after the Benitez debacle it seemed unlikely.

It did make me wonder whether some of José's spin earlier on in the season about not 'truly' being in the title race was aimed at the higher-ups (so not to suddenly ramp up expectations and thus the pressure on José based on a spurt of good form) rather than taking the pressure off the players, which is what it sounded like he was doing at the time.

Either way they shouldn't even be considering this option. We were stupid enough to make this mistake once before so I'm hoping it's a case of once bitten twice shy. Plus imagine the size of the compensation package they'd have to pay him - we could probably get the missing striker José has been moaning about all season for £5m more!

I think your progress comment might be it. Maybe, just maybe Mr A is seeing an improvement on the previous season, whereas previous empty seasons were seen as a backward step?

Don't see how you're going to chase the billionaire owner out of Chelsea though, especially when he's filled the board with his mates...

By not going to games or purchasing merchadise.

Honestly if Chelsea done this in the summer that would be it for me, the love and passion was nearly drained from me with the fat waiter but treating our Jose like a piece of crap again would be it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

We have progression, all without a striker while going with one who Roman wanted and has persisted with when every man and their dog could see it was never going to work.

Give Jose his stikers and other targets then judge. He turned a team with no CL and no title aspirations into challengers again within a single season....that tells me he will be here for a long time and has to be here.

I don't think there's a chance he'll go, if the board wanted success they would have bought a striker in the summer or more likely the winter transfer window without Jose's input. Like its been said were buying a lot more sensibly now and with a longer term approach, if we don't win something next year I think it could do it

Not a chance they will f**k it up for a 2nd time he is the best manager in the world let him build a team. It looks like the club have got a new plan regarding players age. The question will be tho when do you sell 29,30,31?

Personally, I would rather have a trophy less season in the name of stability and building a future proof squad. I would hope that Roman has learnt his lesson and puts a cap on that knee jerk P45 reaction of his.

I think the true fans trust Jose completely and I think he finally gets it. Its only the "been here 5 minutes" glory hunters who are calling for Jose to be sacked. We can do without these supporters, so they can go support City for all I care. I've been blue since I was a youngun and that's never going to change irrespective of whether we win anything this season. I have seen much much worse seasons than this. At least we're making progress on some levels.

Jose has a long term plan for the team. This would have clearly been discussed with Roman and such a drastic change to a team doesn't take a season to come into fruition. It takes several. Jose has a different approach to football than all the managers who followed him and he has spent this season evaluating the quality of players he has inherited. He knows who the dead weight are as do the rest of us.

Roman would have to be profoundly stupid to let him go and throw the club into disarray again. I'm going to accept whatever happens for the remainder of this season, eagerly await the summer transfer window and see what happens there.

We're still in the Premiership title race, even if we are just hanging by a thread now. To an extent, we still have a degree of control, ie: win the remainder of our matches, but we are now reliant on two clubs slipping up towards the end. Remember, they are just as susceptible to the pressure as we are.

Champions League isn't over either. Albeit, we have a mountain to climb now, but we have the atmosphere of Stamford Bridge on our side, aswell as our impressive home record. PSG will no doubt be aware of our home record and these kind of stats can add pressure and change the mindset of clubs going into such matches, playing as a 12th man on the pitch.

I am confident Jose will be around this time next season. If not, as somebody has previously stated, the fans will be livid with Roman and he won't have an easy time trying to win our trust again.

I cannot see Roman dismissing him if we do indeed fail to win a trophy this season.

However if Roman backs him fully in the market again in the summer, he is allowed to remove the dead wood one way or another, such as Torres, Ba, Mikel etc. Players he clearly does not fancy or rate. If he is allowed to get rid of them even at a loss and buy his own players and next season also ends with no trophy, no sign of strong improvement on this one, then he may end up in trouble.

I'd go out on a limb here and say that even next season is too early to decide if I'm honest. I say give him at least 3 seasons at the healm before even beginning to make any judgement on his job. There are no quick fixes that mend all problems. These things take time.

I agree but not sure RA would. No manager has survived 1 year so that for him would probably be his try at stability, I think two trophyless seasons would be too many, especially, if I'm right in saying, we haven't gone 2 without anything since Roman arrived. If Jose is allowed a proper transfer window there will be high expectations

A few strikers of note and we would have the EPL tied up by now.

If Jose is given the money and his targets come then I think we have a great chance next season.

GK - Cech, Cortious

RB - Ivan, Azpi

LB - Shaw, Betrand

CB - Terry, Luiz, Cahill, Zouma

Mid - Matic, Van Ginkel, Ramires, (new signing?)

Att Mid - Hazard, Willain, Oscar, Schurrle, Salah

ST- Costa, Lukaku, (new signing?)

So really 2 strikers, central midfielder and a left back....That can't be impossible?

I think when you decide to revisit former managers, you start thinking a touch more stability may be the way forward. The team wasn't ready for a title challenge this year. You simply can't go into a season and have no reliable scoring options.

There's not another manager in the world I would trust more than Jose to lead the team to glory when all the pieces are put into place.

Given what has been said in the media these past few months I do not expect Bertrand nor Lukaku to come back to us for next season, also seems like Courtios will return to Atletico as a sweetener in the Costa deal, albeit on loan.

In that case we would need keep Ash on or bring in 2 left backs, a midfielder, keep the GK and bring in 3 strikers.....

Might be too much to expect all in one window?

We can't keep Torres or Ba though so it will need to be 3 strikers if Lukaku aint being kept. (maybe keep Eto'o if we can get two top players)

Really? You think it is that cut and dry that Torres is moving on? We have asked for that since before he has signed, or it feels like it anyways. He is on astronomical wages paid by only the top sides or Russian sides, the former will not want Torres and he will not want to go to the later.

No one I can see will be willing to pay us a fee and take on Torres wages. I only see two possibilities for him to go. 1 he goes back to Atletico on a 1/2 year loan deal where Atletico probably pay no more than 50% of his wages. 2. Inter follow up their interest and take him on a 1/2 year loan, they may be willing to offer more around the 70% region of his wages.

Either way removing him will be hard business, unlike Ba who we can move on to a lot of options if we put his fee low enough.

Far as the full backs go I can see Jose signing 1 LB, that is it, even with Ryan leaving. Azpi can play either side, leaving Jose one main option in either position and Azpi. If he loses two of those options can see Kalas or the like asked to fill in.

Can see MS staying another year as back up for Cech. Can see Etoó signing a new 1 year deal to be 2nd/3rd choice striker to Costa and possibly Balitolli, but more likely Torres...

Since there's now talk of sending Lukaku to bloody Spurs next season (how repugnant would that be!!??) I can't see him staying either. Courtois will be staying at Atletico I reckon because we'll be keeping Cech another season. Rumours of us looking to buy Darlow from Forest as Cechs understudy is huge proof of that, plus Courtois will be signing another deal by the looks of it (something that needs to be done in order for him to be loaned further). It should be an interesting transfer window.

We definitely need 3. I was hoping we would keep Eto'o at first until I realised he was a home player. We need someone more versatile. Ba, I've not see enough of, so maybe keep him and buy two strikers in the summer? Cannot see him wanting to be sat on the bench though come to think of it, looks like we may have to buy 3. Maybe 2 in the summer, see how that goes and 1 in January?

Really?

We have this thread already?

If the club ends up sacking Jose Mourinho again the fans are going to stage a mutiny the likes of which has never been seen before. Roman Abramovich will be chased out of Chelsea and we'll probably end up being owned by an UAE family who will re-instate Jose. If the unthinkable happens and the fans take it again I can see the Glazers swooping for Mourinho in the summer.
