I'm a bit surprised he isn't training with the first team pre-season. Also wasn't mentioned at all by Mourinho in the press conference, yet we extended his contract in the summer and he looked good with the first team in the post season tour. Any updates?

His physical attributes and technique are very good, but his passing needs a little work, his defending does too and he needs to become much more of a goal threat. Looked quality in the 2012/2013 season but last season was a little step backwards for him. Also Jose doesn't seem to rate him. I mean he included Jordan Houghton in the Wycombe and Wimbledon game squads before RLC. Hopefully he can really step up his game this season and come one step closer to fulfilling his potential just like Swift did, when he had a difficult 2012/2013 season, but a magnificent campaign after that.

Loads of positive comments by Mourinho in today's press conference about youth. But I hope they are more than just comments and something happens of them. I just want one of our youth players to be able to break into the team. We have plenty of options in different positions, Christensen, Loftus Cheek, Baker, Brown, Boga, Bamford, Solanke.

As Jose said, they will be given a chance but it is up to them to make the most of it. They need to step up and show that they can play at the level needed to start in the first team. Its no easy task.
