Posted February 25, 200717 yr Well, lets face it. The first thread should never have been deleted. Chelsea forwards who have scored 30+ goals in the top flight ?
February 25, 200717 yr Is that 28 or 29 he is on now - what a season he is having. Player of the season is surely a two horse race between him and Ronaldo and I would imagine the prize is going to depend on who wins the league. Also worth pointing out that Sheva is now only a few goals (2 or 3 I think) away from equalling Drogba's return in his first season.
February 25, 200717 yr Well it would actually be the season after wouldn't it however it is a fair point. No I don't think Sheva will have a season for us where he scores as many as Drogs has this season however Sheva is definitely beginning to find his feet in the Premiership and it fills me with great hope in terms of the partnersjip they paid of them could forge next season.
February 25, 200717 yr He'll win the golden boot this year no doubt. If we win the prem he'll get player of the year, or else ronaldo will get it. Man, i've never been so wrong about a player in all my life.
February 25, 200717 yr Well, lets face it. The first thread should never have been deleted.Chelsea forwards who have scored 30+ goals in the top flight ? Putting my swot's hat on (ie having looked at the record section in Rick Glanvill's book), only five post-war Chelsea players have achieved that feat: Tommy Lawton, Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Tambling, Peter Osgood and Kerry Dixon. Not even Jimmy could do it. Exalted company, and it's a credit to DD if he manages it.
February 25, 200717 yr I'm starting to rethink my Chelsea Player of the year vote. Esse's been great but where would we be without the DROG?

February 26, 200717 yr I'm starting to rethink my Chelsea Player of the year vote. Esse's been great but where would we be without the DROG? Well you got a point there. But let put it like this. Were would our defence be without Essien? Imagine playing Ferreira/Riccy or Boulah/Ferreira in the central defence I recently had a look at what positions Essien has played on so far this season: Attacking midfielder Defensive midfielder Winger (sort of anyway) Right back Central defender Have I forgotten any? Even so one has to say that Essien has been amazing so far. Not many (can't think of any actually) can play as good as Essien on that many positions. An amazing feat. Though Drogba is Drogba and we would have like 35-40 goals less without him. With Drogba, Essien, Cech, Lampard and Terry we can do anything! Might add Robben there too since we currently seem need him to wake up
February 26, 200717 yr I can remember someone in the old CSR calling Drogs a glorified Kevin Davies who would do a good job for a Championship side. How times have changed in a season. :)

February 27, 200717 yr Well it would actually be the season after wouldn't it however it is a fair point. I would hate to think just how slow he will be by then though

February 28, 200717 yr given that his first 20 months of the season we're on average well below average, I have no problem in "admitting" to that horrible crime. His form was bad enough to warrant an incredibly supportive name tag like "boulahsnooze", "del oh no", or "ballsack". cashley, obviously doesn't count as it isn't about football, before you ask (yet again). I do however, have a problem with the myth created, that drogba was undeserving of some criticism (or that I was the only one to do so) and, might I add mine was more concise and relevant than the brilliant "I don't like michael ballack's facial expressions", "teutonic twat" type drivel that a shamefully increasing amount seem to believe constitutes constructive, lucid debate. and brit, I would rather be wrong about a footballer than a xenophobic reactionist.
February 28, 200717 yr Without doubt Drogs should get the votes , and by a mile . Although i have to add , Essien and Carv have also been outstanding .
