He was only 19/20 years old in the spell where he actually played for us and he was already as good as Mikel was even at that age. Shame he's suffered with injury problems, all the best to him at Southampton, I think he should be playing for us over Mikel.

Don't think that's fair, his passing and vision was a fantastic addition to our squad at the time. Defensively he wasn't as good as Mikel but he was young and you could see the potential was there to improve that aspect.

I agree his passing and vision were his best qualities, I just never fancied him to make it here. Even without that injury I don't think he was good enough. Wish all the best though, and it will be interesting to see how he develops at Soton. I'm glad he is staying in prem.

I remember seeing him play in person under AVB pre-injury. He was actually pretty impressive. Combatative, good reading of the game and dynamic. Shame this never worked out really.

Shame that he could not break into the team yet Mikel still manages to take away a rotation spot from Traore, Loftus-Cheek, Baker, et al. Best of luck to him, didnt manage to leave a lasting impression yet leaves with two European Cups.

Mikel is wanted by Besiktas. Fingers crossed
