Is it not time we considered moving Ivan back into the middle for cover, dropping Cahill and Zouma?

Dave is a natural right back and offers more in an attacking sense.... and Luis would benefit from getting a steady run games. Recall Ryan Bertrand..

Also we need a young defensive midfielder as cover for Matic.

The weekends football was extremely damaging for our reputation and I think a lot of the second string have to be cleared out....... the likes of Salah, Shurrle, Mikel.... just not good enough.

I think it's time to play Zouma and Terry in central defence. I don't see what Zouma has done wrong in any game to consider being dropped.

 

Agree with Mikel, but Jose clearly likes him. He's a Jose player - sit back and score on the counter when we play away. Salah is just a bad buy. Schurrle is a good player, just lacking in confidence right now.

We definitelty need a new top class centre half. Terry isn't going to last forever and I can't stand it when he doesn't play. Zouma has bags of potential but he's not ready to step into JT's shoes any time soon.

 

This is no excuse, but I wasn't a fan of the line up on Sat. I didn't manage to catch the game as I was away but it looks like 3 players are being played out of position. Lord knows why Jose favours Drogba over Remy up front as I think Remy is a far better player right now.

Doesn't Ivanovic have more goals and assists than any other right-back in the league? Not sure it's worth moving him back to centre-back to be honest. I wouldn't mind seeing Zouma given more games there though, but I think the stick Cahill gets is a little bit overboard.

If he does, it's not by much. He has one more assist (3) than Dave and he's played more games. Only 2 goals as well, not really returns that warrant his suicidal attacking play.

I'm not a fan of Ivan at centre back but if it means Dave gets to play on the right then so be it. He'll have to play centre back when he's older and slower anyway.

As for Zouma, he does the same backing off that people are critising Cahill for. I'm assuming because he's young aand still learning people are willing to let it slide with him.

The funny thing is that I remember people criticising Azpi's crossing when he was playing at right-back.

I don't know what Jose would and wouldn't in regards to Ivan, he's undroppable even when playing poorly. Injury is the only thing that keeps him out.

I was one of those who criticised his crossing, that said Dave's crossing at it's worse is still better than Ivan's.

Hold on a minute..........2 months ago Gary Cahill was the new john terry!!! Yeah he's had a bad run but that's football isn't it? He hasn't turned into a bad player overnite. He has been awesome over the last 18 months. He's had a bad run but don't just ditch him. In my opinion he's Terry's long term successor. Zouma is very nervous on the ball and needs a bit more time. I'm all up for playing young players but Cahill is only 29 so still has a good 5 years yet. If costa has a dry spell are we gonna drop him?

Cahill isn't, and never will be, anywhere near as good as JT. I don't dislike Cahill and would preferably like us to keep hold of him as an option to have but he's no Terry. It's not even so much about dropping Cahill full stop for me, it's about getting in a world class CB who is going to be able to replace Terry in a couple of years.

I think it's time to remove Ivanovic from RB in away games at least. Time and time again we have been getting caught out defensively from his side. The games against Tottenham and especially Liverpool he was all over the place. Against Liverpool i didn't even know where he was half of the time. When they were attacking he would sometimes be standing next to Cahill or would be jogging back from an attacking position. It was one of his worst games with us to date.

 

It's been a problem since the first game of the season against Burnley. They had a few chances against us in the first half of that game and they were all coming from Ivanovic's side. When i think about fullbacks i think about defending first and attack second, Azpilicueta is brilliant at defending and does a decent job going forward. He may not get that many assists but he links up well with wingers

At the age of 29 don't you think it's a little late in his career to be saying he will be John Terry's successor ? I like Cahill and i do think some are being a little harsh on him but at 29 John Terry was world class, he still is now, John Terry has been world class since he took the captain's armband off Desailly at the age of 23. Gary Cahill is nowhere near Terry's level.

It's a tough one because Branna isn't a great long term solution at CB. I think play him there when we have no choice but otherwise keep him on the right. He's not been that good as of late though. I remember when we first signed him he was brilliant I wonder if his time at CB has affected how well he can play wingback.

 

Think Dave is a better option at RB than Branna but putting him there would leave Luis on the left and I think he's a complete liability. Players seem to get around him so easily and his passing is so sloppy. Wouldnt mind putting Bertrand at LB but he does still lack experience. Jose will never take that chance aswell. 

 

At the end of the day I think we should keep Cahill and Terry partnership going and hopefully Gaz will improve. Eventually Dave should succeed Branna and hopefully we can find a new LB or Jose can grow a pair and put Bertrand at LB

Ok I didn't mean he's gonna be as good as jt I simply meant he's a natural follow on from him. Do you think we will ever have another jt??? Never in my opinion. We all know he would still be England captain now etc etc. I just feel sorry for cahill, He's improved massively over the last 2 years. As far as English centre backs go is there anyone out there better??? I don't think so. Hate to say it but we will just go and blow £30-£40 million on a centre back  whos had a few good games for benfica or somebody like that. If we didn't have Bertrand or cahill on our books and they both played to their full potential for a mid-table club then we would be linked with them for some stupid fee!!! Thank god we didn't sign mangala.........perfect example of what im saying.
