No award ever to our manager!

Featured Replies

Is there any reason why Jose never wins manager of the month award?

We are top of the league, progressing in Champions League (as usual) and in final of the league cup but Jose is never selected for the award. Does Jose need to kiss the ass of the PL gents to be selected?

The City manager from somewhere in South America handles a smaller team too?

No, but it's generally about overachieving which is why the City manager from somewhere in South America who won the league last season lost the Manger of the Season title to......

Tony Pulis.

It's generally about putting good runs together as well. Jose will win the Manager of the Season trophy if he wins the league UNLESS Koeman keeps Southampton in the top four.

Shockingly though, Jose has only won the monthly award three times (yearly award twice, one less than Wenger) which is less than....

Joe Kinnear

Gordon Strachan

Kevin Keegan

Sam Allardyce

Martin O'Neil

Harry Redknapp

David Moyes

Sir Alex has won it 27 times from August 1993 to October 2012.

If Saints hit top 4, it goes to Koeman. If Spurs hit top 4, it goes to Pocho. If Liverpool hit top 4, suddenly Brendan is the best manager in the world.

I can assure you that Jose wont hit it even we win the league...I am sure Jose doesn't care and as a supporter of the club I dont care too if we win the league.

I got this topic because I saw the news of  Koeman getting it for last month and it got me going.

BTW, only 27 times to Sir Alex? I thought he would be near 100 with the love in he had :D

Worst one was when Ancelotti didn't win manager of the year after we won the title and set a new goal scoring record for the Premier League... Yup it went to Harry Redknapp for finishing 4th.

I'm inclined to say there is a little xenophobia when it comes out to dishing out this award.

Consider it a blessing, isn't it generally viewed to be a curse?

It's just a statistical likelihood that a team who wins 4-5 games on the bounce in one month won't win the next 1. Boring, dry old statistics, no hoodoo associated unfortunately considering we have Southampton soonish.

I think it's because getting in the top four if you aren't Us, City, United or Arsenal is considered a massive achievement although Brenton missed out on it last year despite finishing second.

Like I said I reckon Jose's got a chance but I wouldn't argue with Koeman getting it if he finished top four. Pocho, meh...tough one. Big Sam might have a shout too.

I was amazed at Fergie's number of wins but then he was very good at putting together winning runs and was around for 20-odd years of the PL. The one I'd be pissed off about would be Hazard losing Young Player to Harry Kane if we win the league.

Hazard should be up there for player of the year imo, forget young player (I think Kane deserves that to be honest).

Got me thinking though, assuming the season ended now and we won the league, who would be favorite for player of the year, Hazard, Fabregas or Costa? JT and Matic worth a mention? Sanchez assuming he drags Arsenal to 4th?

I would love to see Ivanovic win one of our player of the year awards.

Unfortunately its very rare for defenders to even be nominated for these kind of awards, let alone win them which is a shame in my opinion.

I know he won't win the pfa award. I was talking about our annual team awards. Azpi won the players' player of the year award last year.

Ah right, sorry. Misunderstood.

We won the double.
