Collymore hate chelsea - petition

Featured Replies

Anyone see the strange stan collymore's tweet from yesterday which suggested that the entire Chelsea and Rangers support have associations with far right extreme groups like the BNP, National Front and Combat 18?!?!

Tweet was deleted, but he's failed to apologise. Has promised to out the CFC / RFC fanbase on BT Sport tomorrow evening and prove that we are all racist and that the fanbase of the two clubs is "made for each other" blah blah etc etc. Dunno if he's lost the plot but it certainly seems that way.

Someone set up a petition to get him booted off BT Sport. To be fair, i do find it pretty insulting to insinuate that our collective fanbase is not one that fosters inclusion and diversity. I want this club (and Rangers) to grow their support around the world and i love the thought of kids in rural areas on the african continent / brazil / outer mongolia / mars booting a ball about a pitch wearing the blue of chelsea and dreaming of playing at the bridge. This is a club after all and the general notion of sport is one in which racial boundaries and prejudice has no place whatsoever. Players from all over the world challenging themselves against one another, putting in hard challenges, taking each other to the limit whilst simultaneously respecting their opponents for who they are - sportspersons whose existence is no more or less significant than the next. Pretty low to suggest that the minority of absolute TOADS in Paris represent even a fraction of our collective mindset and i for one am appalled that collymore even tries to associate us with racist movements.

But in saying that, it is collymore, so i expect nothing less.

Petition has nearly 2000 signatures. Not sure what the general collymore-consensus is on here but thought i'd share it anyway for those of you who feel that collymore leans towards the definition of "unpalatable".

He's a twat, a very unprofessional twat, he sees an incident like this as an excuse to be even more of a twat because that's what he indeed is a twat.

Oh and did I mention that he's a twat?

Collymore will probably say that everyone who signs the petition is a racist, and are only doing it because of his colour. A bit of a pointless exercise imo..Cancelling the BT sport subscription would be a far more effective measure if you really feel that strongly about Stanley Victor's views..

I don't so I choose to ignore him.

he is just a mouthpiece and he uses the position of privilege to foster controversy and, dare i say it, promote hate.

Chelsea as a club is paving the way in anti-racism and i just think that collymore undermines all the good work that our fans and the club is doing. its not healthy to have him spouting this tripe - genuinely think he is part of the problem and is in no way contributing to a solution.

he's a worry.

same shelly - i havent signed it and dont want to give him any more of a reason to pipe up and be acknowledged. however, it does give BT sport a decision to make. i think his tweets are unacceptable. blocked him shortly after his chelsea BNP rant the other day. disappointing more than anything else.

faux-intellect.

I've signed the petition anyway, I'm mostly tired of unprofessional pundits like him in the first place, he is very alike Rio Ferdinand.

His comments about anything are usually very provocative then he always plays the victim. I think he is one of those people who just likes to stay relevant to be honest, I really hope we can get something done about him, 1 down another 50 to go though.

But I am more than happy to start with this bell end.

valid points well made.

the guy has been suspended from talk sport in the past for some of his tweets, i believe. he even publicly challenged ally mccoist to a fight via twitter, and then deleted it.

odd doesnt even begin to describe it. the guy is a w**ker.

How does he even have a career? He's like a chav, what was it he said on the Wayne Rooney diving incident? Although yes it was good to have pundits speaking against the silent papers that day but even the way he was saying it was just idiotic.

He blocked me off twitter a while ago after the Diego Costa stamp incident when he was riling all the Chelsea fans up then playing victim about racism etc. I only said to him you need to stop provoking trolls then and saying Chelsea fans are classless and that sort of stuff wont happen. I was instantly blocked after that, he done me a favour though, I don't want to see what that gob sh*te says.

HAHA i got blocked for the same thing!!!! surprised he didnt block gary neville who gave him a level-one pasting via twitter.

odd chap. the thing is that BT sport have said that they have him on their chat show panel because of his "strong and controversial views". My question is when does "strong and controversial" become unacceptable, and in this instance, collymore has crossed a line.

exec summary: he's a twat.

Signed it. He clearly doesn't realise 99.9% of Chelsea fans are condemning the racism without holding back.

By comparing Chelsea and Rangers fans to the BNP/National Front/Combat 18 he is spreading hate and widening divisions, making racism harder to combat. The man needs to stop.

Is he actually planning on making a speech tomorrow about all this?

Only god knows what this is going to evolve in... Chelsea and Rangers racist clubs!

As much as I think that Collymore is an inexcusably stupid, arrogant fool who has no business in punditry, and as much as I would like to see him gone from football, I don't think this is a good idea.

It will be perceived as us trying to shut out people who have negative things to say about us, and in light of recent events, shunning someone who has been so vocal about racism in football (however misguidedly) will only serve to stoke the fire.

That's the beauty of free speech - everyone has the right to talk complete and utter nonsense, and we in turn have the right to call them idiots for doing so.

You're right PK13 unless the free speech is untrue (slander libel), or incites hatred. In essence Stan the man has said I am in sympathy with the NF and so forth which I object to.

That's a good point. This could easily be spun as "Chelsea/Rangers fans petition to silence prominent anti-racism campaigner Collymore". The fact that gobsh*tes like him tend to do more harm than good is immaterial.

Exactly what it is, Collymore is not going to do any good at all, whatever he is suggesting sounds like a conspiracy theory of Chelsea and Rangers supporting racism and working together blah blah blah.

Like we have time to do such things, I guess we've made it a priority instead of winning the league, I guess we don't have any non white players in our team also Stan.

That is true, but at the same time you have the freedom and the logistics to point that out to him and also to point out how much of an imbecilic hypocrite he is for tarring all Chelsea/Rangers fans with the same brush when any anti-racism philosophy is founded on not making untrue and vindictive generalisations.

Exactly, the last thing we want to do is paint him as a silenced hero or a martyr for the cause. Collymore is one of the biggest arseholes in football, he'll defeat his own cause as soon as he speaks out loud as everyone will recognise him as a complete idiot (as most people already do) and in this case quite possibly a liar.

It reminds me of that Bertrand Russell quote:

"The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt."
