Obviously as with the corner stats they are entirely taken out of context; they don't account for number of free kicks, ratio of accurate-to-inaccurate, how many goals they actually lead to, etc...

How can they possibly tell what the target of a free kick or corner is?

I think what they mean is that it reaches another Chelsea player - that could mean that they pass it five yards or that they pick out one of our players with a brilliant outswinging cross into the box. It has the same problem as the assist stats - no context whatsoever.

I'd imagine it would mean if it touched one of our players first from the corner being taken.

However it could generally mean if it beat the first man and was put into the box.

With all the talk about Willian's corners, he's assisted with a corner today   2 assists for him and a goal for Oscar. These things work in peculiar ways   

^ Saw him take one after the goal & it never cleared the first man.

I should be happy, but i'm more annoyed to be honest. If he can turn up for his country then he should be able to do the same for his club. Especially since he spends more time with his club than his country.
