As much as I lament our absence from the Champions League (even if it does have positive implications for our title hopes), it is nice to be able to appreciate it as a football fan rather than purely as a Chelsea fan.

 

I was thinking exactly this last night. Kind of refreshing huh? 

Bayern - Barca has to happen at some point, for football's sake. They seem like the two best teams in Europe at the moment, plus we would have the narrative of Guardiola's return to Barca.

If it's in the semis we get double the football (and the standard tends to be higher than in the final), but I suppose it's less climactic.

Juve - Real would be an interesting clash of midfields and of styles. Kroos, Modric (if fit) and Rodriguez/Isco against Pirlo, Pogba and Vidal seems like it would be fun to watch.

Juve have a pretty good record over Real Madrid aswell. I hope the semis do work out as I said cause I believe they'd give us the best semi final options however a Barca vs Bayern final would be a hell of a spectacle.

So what we all thinking for the semis then? Personally I hope we avoid another El Classico, I hope it's Barca vs Bayern and Juve vs Real

 

I hope we avoid another all Spanish final. It's so boring when two clubs from the same league play against each other in a European final. Unless it's Chelsea that is the other club, but even then I'd prefer it to be against a club from another country.

I dont thinkt that 2nd yellow is such a contentious decision. Ramos milked it of course, but still, high up, studs first . . . Turan knew the risks

 

Ramos foot was pretty much just as high. Even if it is a high foot, it wasn't in anyway dangerous. It's never a yellow card, it's a foul at the very most.
