Posted November 10, 20159 yr Papers saying the players want him back cause he is available after completing the MLs season. Personally I think it would be a massive move simply because of the man's influence and leadership.
November 10, 20159 yr A Legend and Great Player and Great Man but what would be the point? We keep looking short-term. If we want to get out of this mess we need to start adopting a long-term plan and look for fresh, hungry and quick players and start playing some of our decent youngsters, NOT 37 year olds!!
November 10, 20159 yr We've already said goodbye twice, let's not do it again.  When he's ready to move into coaching I'll have him back in a heartbeat.  Right now we need to be looking forwards as a club not backwards.Â
November 10, 20159 yr Author It's clear we have missed his personality and leadership though. It's one of the reasons I feel that we haven't been as good this season. Would have him back in a heartbeat..
November 10, 20159 yr But you can't keep looking back every time something goes wrong. Of course we miss players like Drogba and Lamps and we will miss JT when the time comes but we have to look forward now. Getting Drogba back again would be frankly embarrassing.
November 10, 20159 yr I wouldn't mind if he were to come back as a player/coach. The board has underestimated his importance to the team. Â Sub him in late in the game only if we're planning to pump the long balls in or focus on set pieces. If not, we should just let the younger players have a shot. Â He should mainly be here for his leadership qualities, someone to motivate the team in trainings, dressing rooms and conduct pre-/half-/post-match talks. Â We should prepare a full coaching contract once he has decided to retire as a player.
November 10, 20159 yr If memory serves Mou has already stated Drogs won't be returning in a playing capacity. Which is a shame, like others i'd have him back, firstly to give us something up front which I think we're missing atm (and which Costa, Falcao, or Remy can't give us), a genuine physical presence up front.

It's worth doing cause the team needs someone in the dressing room like him.

It's worth doing cause the team needs someone in the dressing room like him. Â Yes, more embarrassing. He's already come back once (with debatable success) but what do we do, keep calling on him until his 40? Might as well get Lampard back at the same time? Â No, we have to MOVE FORWARD as a club and stop the short-sightedness. We cannot continue to expect players who were the core of a great side assembled over a decade ago, to continue to deliver. The sign of a great coach is to re-build a side. Fergie did it countless times. Did you see him going back to get RVN or Keane or Beckham? Of course not. I like the idea of Drogba being involved in the club in some capacity but not as a player. We have to move on. Edited November 10, 20159 yr by Nibs
November 10, 20159 yr Very much a club legend but did anyone actually watch him play when he came back last year??!! He's found his level in the MLS.
November 10, 20159 yr His presence in the dressing room is huge and no doubt we have missed both him and Cech on this front. As a player though he now is well passed his peak. Ironicly the players who could learn the most from him are both out on loan.

November 11, 20159 yr As a coach yes, not as a player. He's not going to be able to do anything of note on the pitch
November 14, 20159 yr Very much a club legend but did anyone actually watch him play when he came back last year??!! He's found his level in the MLS. Â Well not really he is taking the piss out of them over there.
November 14, 20159 yr Well not really he is taking the piss out of them over there.Yeah that's my point. The quality of opposition is hardly the same. Let him stay and shine in the MLS. Last year proved he isn't good enough for the Premiership anymore
