January 3, 201610 yr 2 things, First, are we really a set of fans that are worrying about buying players for profit? Second, in the director of football model, he dictates the philosophy of the club, not the manager! The clues in the title
January 3, 201610 yr I repeat what Mourinho said which is that he identified the players he wanted before the end of the last season. It might be that these were unrealistic. But it was the Board's job to back the manager with suitable alternatives. Instead they appear to have obliged him to make do with cut-price nonentities and get by with academy players. So we alienated the club manager and left him with a squad he wasn't happy with. The outcome has been predictable and arguably set us back several seasons. I really doubt a new manager, be it Guardiola or Simeone, would tolerate such nonsense in future. We alienated the manager? Really? Yet he signed a new 4yr deal ( Must be for the money then). Unhappy with a squad he lead to the title 3months back? Must have done it all alone then.

January 3, 201610 yr Guillem Balague reckons there is no chance whatsoever of Isco leaving Real in the January window: No chance whatsoever of Real Madrid selling Isco in January. Even despite having played 12 minutes in the last 5 games. Zero
January 4, 201610 yr Wow, that was an own goal, buddy Why? José weakened our squad not Emenalo. The sh*t he cops on here is beyond ridiculous.
January 5, 201610 yr Since we most probably won't be in the Champions league next year we may be forced into making shrewder signings. We defenitely need a new full back and a striker. Hysaj, Napoli's right back and Aduriz of Bilbao come to mind as players who won't break the bank and are still up there as top players in their respective leagues. Hysaj is actually remarkably underrated, 21 years of age, 102 appearances for Empoli, picked up by Napoli and has started every game this season, was also voted Serie A best right back so far this season. Worth a look.

On that criteria, we could be really shrewd and not buy anyone ? http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/05/why-chelsea-should-not-spend-any-money-in-this-transfer-window-5600795/ Edited January 5, 201610 yr by coco

January 5, 201610 yr Need a left back more than anything. Got a perfectly good right back in Dave. We had 2 good left backs and let them go, now we have Baba and he don't get a look in either.
