I was staring at him for ages before I could put a name to the face. Talking of famous German footballers I've met, I once met Dieter Hoeness, Uli's younger and much nicer, but less talented brother. He is an old uni friend of a German mate of mine. Very nice guy. Played for Germany in the '86 world cup. Hoeness did score. The other West German goal was scored by the great Gerd Muller. 68 goals in 62 international appearances. An incredible strike rate. A shame that he is now suffering from Alzheimer's disease. April 2, 20206 yr Scotland beating England 2-1 at Hampden in 1976. Bomber and Jaws in central defence for Scotland. Clemence letting Dalglish's shot go through his legs and a great tackle by Forsyth on Channon towards the end. Some great Scottish players. Could do with some of them nowadays.

England had a decent team out that day too. I actually had that England strip ! For some reason, it was popular in the summer of 1976 amongst the youngsters who played football where I lived

Scotland winning made a good change from the year before and the following year was the famous game when Scottish fans took away a few souvenirs!

Wallace served with the King's Own Scottish Borderers and was in Malaya for a while when in the army.

April 5, 20206 yr Jock Wallace has the Leicester City players running up a sand hill. Looks like a young Gary Lineker on the left, in top left picture. Footage of the sand dune training is from start until a bout 3 mins 20 secs. Gary Lineker probably still shudders at the very thought of this pre season training ! It does look like Lineker in the picture. He was interviewed on Saturday Live on BBC Radio 4 yesterday. It would have been great if the training had been brought up in the interview. It looks like our one time player Dennis Rofe being interviewed. Jock Wallace, a legendary manager. I doubt it his style of managing and relationship with the media would be allowed nowadays. Did a great job with Rangers.
