April 14, 20206 yr The old Wembley being demolished. Had some bad days there e.g. the 1975 game between England and Scotland and the 1994 FA Cup Final. Outweighed though by great days. The 1986 Full Members Cup Final and the 1997 FA Cup Final spring to mind.
April 14, 20206 yr European Cup in 1989. I wonder why Ruud is wearing sunglasses. Too much champagne?

The champagne must have had some effect !! Possibly a sponsorship deal worth 'a few bob' from say Ray Ban, or some other sunglasses manufacturer ?
April 15, 20206 yr 'This Man Utd fan seems pretty happy at Wembley in 1977, which is not surprising given that Tommy Docherty's side had beaten their great rivals Liverpool at Wembley.' The Met Policeman is seen 'inviting him' to climb down ! This Man Utd fan it should be said. did no damage to the crossbar or pitch. Edited April 15, 20206 yr by erskblue
April 15, 20206 yr Admiral 'North American Soccer League' shirts advert. And general shirt advert, apologies for the two Leeds players in second one Late 1970s.
April 15, 20206 yr A pigeon sitting on the crossbar. Bundesliga, 1969/1970, Niederrhein Stadium in Oberhausen, Rot-Weiss Oberhausen versus FC Schalke 04 0:3, scene of the match, keeper Josef Elting (Schalke) stands in the goal with a pigeon sitting on the crossbar. Great picture !

Possibly a sponsorship deal worth 'a few bob' from say Ray Ban, or some other sunglasses manufacturer ? Yes, could well be a sponsorship deal. That team which won the European Cup in 1989 was brilliant. Included one of the finest back fours of all time and two future Chelsea managers. And a future Chelsea player in the opposition.
April 15, 20206 yr Street football in the 1970s. Wouldn't like to be one, who had to get the ball when it went down to the bottom f that hill !

A bit different from a couple of weeks later when England played Scotland. The crossbars didn't stand a chance!
