Everton won the league that season but interesting that their average home gate is great than that of Liverpool. The blues of Merseyside the bigger side? And with more history?

The blues of Merseyside the bigger side? And with more history? Liverpool's rise only really started with the arrival of Bill Shankly in the late 1950s. Until I reckon 1970, Everton would have been thought of as the bigger club of the two. Might be wrong.

I read once that they were close to being relegated to the old third division.

I also remember going over the park from about 7yrs onwards after the FA Cup final for a kick about too. Remember going down the rec when the 79 cup final was on, Arsenal v United it was 2-0 to Arsenal and pretty boring so after about 75 mins picked up my ball and Bonetti gloves and went out, about 2 hours later came back to be told by my parents the last 15 minutes were brilliant with Arsenal winning 3-2 Alan Sunderland scoring winner in injury time.

Bonetti gloves reminds me of the Neville Southall shin pads I got. Felt invincible wearing those even though they were probably goalkeeping shin pads.

A crowd of 112,000 were at this Scotland v England game. 2-1 to England Was in the Celtic end for the Scotland v England game in 1982. I went with one of my uncles. England won 1-0 with Mariner scoring. I remember the big floodlight pylon at the Celtic end and I'm sure people tried to climb it. Crowd was just over 80,000. The last time I was there was in 1992 for the Scottish Cup Final. Hampden had changed a lot in that time. Seems strange that the capacity is now 52,000. My Papa was there when there was just under 150,000 in the ground. How times have changed.
March 29, 20206 yr Pretty sure at it's peak Hampden had a capacity of 183,000 ! The record official attendance of 149,415, for the 1937 Scotland v England match. This attendance is the European record for an international football match. There was also an official attendance of 149,269 for the 1939 match v England. And a 147,365 official attendance for the 1937 Scottish Cup Final.
