League tables from 57-58. Liverpool, a team that's supposed to have more history than us, is in Division 2.

^ Liverpool's history before 1962 is pretty ordinary if we use their metric to define having "history" and "success". For a club that likes to describe us as having "no history" and being "plastics" I find it ironic to be honest.

It's only from the work of Shankly and Paisley they became a powerhouse that they're now renowned for in addition to financial backing from the Moores family.

When we won the First Division in 1955, they were languishing in the Second Division. Interestingly enough they were poor for majority of the 54/55 season that there was a chance of them being relegated again to the Third Division, but a strong run in the latter part of the season kept them in the Second Division.

For future reference, if Liverpool supporters say we don't have history then just mention 1955. That should shut them up real quick.

Quite right. Shankly could handpick players from the market like he was leafing through a Littlewoods catalogue.

Timo Werner's penalty v Spuds last night, was RB Leipzig's first ever Champions League knockout goal.

So well worth posting here, as it was the only  goal of the game !

Don't know where this picture was taken but judging by the style of clothes was in the 1920s. Would love to know why the fan ran on to the pitch. A dodgy refereeing decision?

The late, great Davie Cooper. Today would have been his 64th birthday. Probably the most skilful British player I've seen.
