Well then, you're in luck! New update out today and it says they're trying a new tracking method. 

 

I've updated it and there  is no new tracking. They are trialling new tracking at the moment apparently, but only for a select group of test players. Hopefully it will be implemented soon. 

I think I have the new tracking. It shows "Sightings" of pokemon, with a picture of grass. Although I haven't seen the section which shows pokemon nearby Pokestops yet, so maybe I don't have it.

Apprently the pokestops tracking if only in San Franciso at the moment

I also see grass on the 'tracking' screen, however I don't think it adds any new functionality.

 

I managed to hatch my 10 km eggs over lunch and got a 552 CP Mr Mime from one and a 1000 CP Pinsir from the other. The Mr Mime is definitely more interesting but I suspect the Pinsir will be more useful if I ever use them for battles.

 

I'm sitting in the office surrounded by Zubats and I can't be arsed to capture them.

Saw a ???CP Snorlax and threw all my ultra balls + berries at it.

 

It broke free and promptly ran away. FFS...

I think the nearby thing updates more now, so you can see quicker if you are heading away from or closer toward something.

 

Would still like the footprints back though.

Hatched a 1200 Snorlax this morning which was awesome.

I then captured my 60th pokemon which I could evolve and promptly activated a lukcy egg and have gone from level 15 to 18 in the space of 30 minutes.  It's been a good day!

You need 101 Magikarp (provided you catch them and don't hatch them) to get a Gyarados, 4 pieces per karp if you tansfer them to the prof and then 1 more to evolve

I only get sh*t pokemon from my eggs. 10km egg is about to hatch but I'm not very optimistic. I'm in Italy on holiday now but have to rely on WiFi so I haven't caught anything. Only check it once in a while though, don't want to spend my entire vacation catching pokemon.

Execcute and Duduo from my two 5k eggs today. Not bad, since I didn't have either of them before.

Does it have Water Gun and Hydro Pump as its moves? Would be an excellent evolution if it does.

Only egg I've been happy with is when I hatched a level 600 machop. Always thought that was a cool pokemon.

Don't think it's fair that some people first get a level 1800 snorlex and then a 1600 lapras and I'm stuck with a bloody 800 Magmar, don't even remember what my last 2 10k eggs were.

What level are you on?

Also the egg hatches you a pokemon depending on the level you got the egg rather than the level you hatched it on. So maybe the egg was in your repository for long.

Ahh I didn't know that. I have no clue for how long I've had the egg. I'm level 21 so the next 10k egg I get should be a banger then.

To be fair though, an evolved 500CP Eevee would be an absolute beast Vaporeon.

 

Edit: At level 18 my 420cp Eevee became a 1250cp Vaporeon for example.

Dont think thats a bad deal. Can be easily evolved into a 1400+ vapareon/flareon.

It evolved into a 1174 Jolteon, which isn't too bad but is still a bit disappointing.
