September 18, 20169 yr Lol @ anyone trying to criticize Conte for Plan A, B, C, D, .... Chelsea are 3-1-1. Give him a break, that's his first 5 matches ever in the PL with a squad that's coming off a 10th place finish last season and he's still above United & Liverpool at the moment. Give him a chance.

The changes you make to change a draw into a win wouldn't necessarily have got you a win if you'd started with that system/line up from the beginning. I've seen a lot more to be positive about with Conte than negative. No, it's never a bad thing to have the ability to change the game but it's hardly the case with conte.. While there is that possiblity that the plan B might not have worked out had it started from the beginning, but considering 4 games out of 5 we saw his plan A not working and the fact that we looked a lot better with the plan B suggests lot of optimism for the plan B to get the start.. Apart from the burnley game, we didn't look convincing with the plan A, guess unless we try it out, this argument is going nowhere, I'm not going to change my mind as you're hellbent on trying to make a case for conte, we'll see.. After jose, last thing i want is another conservative manager at the club..
September 18, 20169 yr Finally had a chance to catch Conte's post match interview. It's interesting to hear after we scored, he wasn't in any rush to push on. It's only in the last 10-15 he tried to 'get a draw', so winning the match was out of the question at 1:2. I got to say I'm a bit disappointed by that. Judging by everything else he has said, he reckoned we are no where near where we want to be. This season is about not to repeat what happened last season, any talk of title challenge is way off.
September 19, 20169 yr Horrible game! Ivanovic targeted again for his lack of pace, we really need to address this sooner rather than later.
September 19, 20169 yr we really need to lay of Ivanovic every time after all he was massively over exposed but he stuck to his task yes he gave away a free kick which defender doesnt
September 19, 20169 yr I think more then anything this game highlighted yet again how poor we are against teams that press well. We were barely able to string to passes together without losibg the ball. Without Fab theres a shortage of players who can bypass pressure with either a pass or by taking on the opposition. Ivan, Cahill, Azpi and Matic in particular really struggles here. Hopefully the addition of Luiz helps things a bit
September 19, 20169 yr I don't know if you've already discussed it or not, I haven't had the frame of mind to read the forum after Friday until now, but my feeling on Friday was that we lacked a captain to organise the players. I had the feeling that the two goals were the result of a total lack of focus (really amateur defending) and with JT on the field there wouldn't have been so many Liverpool players unmarked inside the box in the first one. I also didn't see Courtois organising the defenders. You can see other world class keepers shouting to place their defenders (Buffon or Casillas when he was top class are the first ones that spring to mind) and I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that Courtois lacks that character and doesn't seem to be bothered. Any opinions about it?

Then when he was one on one with the opposition winger, he would either back off into our penalty area to allow them to get a cross in, or he would foul them. This is what the majority of Ivanovic's performances have been like for the past year now.

Liverpool were the far better team than us in the first half but ultimately it was Cahill's mistake that gave them a 2-0 lead. By no means am I defending Ivan but I thought Cahill's performance was far worse. Ivanovic conceded possession in areas of the pitch we could at least defend, there was nothing the team could do about Cahill's mistake. Edited September 19, 20169 yr by the special one
September 20, 20169 yr Kante and Matic can not play together to me Kante don't need Matic his a beast
September 20, 20169 yr So many opinons and permatations and they are probably all right , this goes to prove only one thing We are not good enough We were a poor team last year and we still are a poor team , ok we Bought Kante but we have not improved the team in any way shape or form Are transfers we non exsistant last year , Marinho , had to put up wth it and now Cante is havng to do the same i believe his only opton is to blood the youth properly and drop Oscar Pedro , matic , ivan ,Cahill, Mikel and take a hit with the results going aganst us and ride the storm , I believe he would then gain the backing of M, Emanalo who i think will love to see his youth purchuses playing first team so he can take massive credit and with the youth players and a couple of Cante own signings in january we might have a repectable season Edited September 20, 20169 yr by dellaw
September 21, 20169 yr Walking down the Fulham Road with the great unwashed - and the over cologned - is a great pleasure. So much expectation and then that's followed by a light show with rolling drums and what's that - people forking the turf trying to dig up those Liverpool gremlins. No such luck unfortunately. Before I'm hoarse we're already two down, one of which I don't think would have happened if Terry was about. The second half was better but still not great. Looks like last year's team are playing tonight. Lack of energy and tempo. I find Hazard disappointing and Liverpool seem to have two more players on the pitch. Thanks Diego for having something to come away with. My fear is that the Conte 'bounce' has gone and we're a long way off being a top team. Hopefully the encounter with Arsenal proves me wrong. P.S. Last night's comeback gives some glimmer of hope.
