WAGNH reports that our buy back clause on the second oldest Hazard brother expires at the end of this calendar year.

Thorgan has scored six goals in his first seven games for Borussia Monchengladbach this season, including a hattrick in the Champions League against BSC Young Boys, and can be gotten back for the (relatively) paltry sum of €15m, which is currently just under £13m.

So, do we splurge the cash and get him back?

Now with Moses seemingly favored by Conte I just don't see the space for him.

Could always still buy him and see how it goes, I'm sure we can sell him for more than £13m anyway.

Done really well in Germany but then so did Marin!!

I'm not sure if we will go for him again, he is younger than Eden so will have room to improve and I do think he's a talented footballer from what I have seen.

It all comes down to what Conte wants and of course if the club believe we can buy back cheap and sell for a profit if all else fails.

That would also be fine with me. Anything but Oscar next season!

I love Jose, but some of his decisions will take sometime to right. Still not convinced about our LB (hopefully he proves me wrong), dont think we can find a no.10 as good as KDB. Atleast with the striker we are back on track with Michy.

The Filipe Luis decision and the KdB decision will always haunt me. The rest such as Lukaku and Mata i can live with. To be honest i don't think we ever really replaced Schurrle leaving.

Pedro? :laugh2:

On a serious note, I do agree. Think Lukaku was more on the KDB/Luis side of a decision than mata, schurrle and the consistent army of people who were sold and brought in.

How did it all go so wrong so quickly, I will never understand. Seriously dont think one PL is worth the situation we currently find ourselves in.

What situation though? We still have a squad full of some of the best players in Europe like Hazard, Costa, Kante, Azpi, Tibo and some great young talents like Zouma to come back in.

We have a squad capable of challenging and bar Man City is there any other side in England who are night and day ahead of us in terms of their squads?

Not for me.

That PL title means a hell of a lot to me personally, do we forget how hard those are to win given it took us 50 years to do it again? I wouldn't change it

We had a broken and demoralised squad that is still finding its feet, the Liverpool game shows that. Now imagine this squad full of Europe's best players also boasting Luis at LB, De Bruyne is the middle of the park and a much stronger bench.

10th in the league, directionless, squad light on quality (and quantity), no youth integration.

Kante has had one good season at the highest level. Yes, he looks the real thing but so did Matic. I am not sure Azpi is anywhere near the best player in europe.

Sorry but currently if you give me an option of rolling back the time to 2013 with a squad full of potential (kdb, mata, hazard, schurrle, even Oscar), lukaku, bertrand, along with some of the best youth players in the world,  I would do it in a heartbeat to see how it would have panned out.

Of course it's early days under Conte but we still have a squad more than capable of being up there.

It's all if's and buts with the likes of De Bruyne. He wasn't the same player he is today when we had him...he had to go to Germany and play week in/week out to get to where he is. That might have happened had he stayed and just as easily it may not have.

We won the league because we built a fantastic strong side who were miles and miles ahead of everyone else in the league. We as a club failed to bolster that squad and we went into free fall....that's got nothing to do with selling De Bruyne or whoever else to Germany a year before that happened.

I wouldn’t swap a title just because we are not in the CL or pasting teams domestically. Winning a title is a special achievement especially in a league as competitive as ours is these days. I feel some will soon find out how much of an accolade it actually is given the competition we have now ahead of us.

Chelsea winning titles is what it’s all about, if we have some poor seasons so be it but those memories will live with me to the grave.

We had to sell Mata to fund bringing in more players, we simply couldn't afford to have all those players at once.

Dave is one of the most reliable defenders in Europe, to me that makes him one of the best.

Maybe you would like to take a chance on winning nothing at all on the whim of a football manager type scenario but I'll take winning the biggest prizes of all every time.

We don't have a bad squad, a few tweaks and we will be back once again. A spine of Tibo,  Kante (who has had more than 1 good season, just because you don't watch football outside of England doesn't mean we all do....) Hazard and Costa is very strong.

Patience, hard work and good business/decisions from the club and we will be fine...plus having won that title.

We did not have to sell mata. Don't get why and when this myth started. We wanted Rooney and were willing to shell out 30 mil which we later used on getting Willian despite having Mata, kdb, schurrle, Oscar, hazard and Moses. Matic was a done deal irrespective of mata. So please don't include the weird obsession of a few that it was Ffp related or that "WE HAD TO".

yes, I am willing to take that chance. Don't try to pull that football manager sh*t on me. We have been down this road. Many many times. After 2009/10, after 2011/12. Yet despite hundreds of millions invested, we are the team on the Backfoot while playing Liverpool at the SB. Why? Simply because we don't have any identity.

"patience" - i can ask the same of you. Why don't you be patient and see the rewards of doing this differently than for instant Gratification. Having proper youth integration, actually having an identity and play.

Buying back a 29 year old error prone CB who has already been here and done all his crap is not good business. I will reserve my judgement on Alonso, but hardly seems like a world class buy.

good squads don't come 10th in the league. Can you imagine psg/bayern/barca/rm/atm/city doing that? Even arsenal? If a team has quality, it shows. We lack it and that was the reason for our last season. The year before that, we were riding the wave that costa and cesc created at the start of the season and then we were lucky that hazard was absolutely unplayable in the second half. Moreover the league was in a sh*t position. As for kante, please stop trying to act that you always knew kante was going to turn into such a beast of Player. As for azpi, no where near one of the best fullback. Remove the blue tinted glasses. A modern game fullback is as proficient in defense as in attack. Azpi is no where near being one of the best.

If you think that one premier league was worth it, then good for you. I am not judging. Each to his own. But I personally wanted more. The moment Jose took over the squad, there wAs a hope of Chelsea being an elite. One of the best in the world and that is exactly what I craved/crave. Currently, we are not even the best in London.

whether we need him or not, i think we need to activate the clause regardless. if we can accommodate him, good. if we don't, we can sell him straight away, or loan him and sell him next summer

Why would thorgan agree to this?

Why wont he keep a 200kpw demand to simply tell us to leave him alone?

Wont it affect his brother, Eden, seeing that his younger brother was transferred out of a club where he is a starter only for him to be back where he was 3 years ago?

Dont think its even a slight possibility that Thorgan would agree to eat without a guaranatee that he would be a starter and not another one of our loan deals.

He'll improve more if he will play for bigger teams, surrounded by the best of the best.

hahahahah. LOL

Would be terrible for us with our current squad. We need more steel in the midfield and defense, else Thogan, just like Eden will be put on defensive duties trying to fight against more physical players and tiring himself out.

We also need a lot more offensively. Just buying players to add steel and hard work has left us in part in this position where we lack and sort of offensive game plan. The old "Buy lots of defenders and Hazard + Costa" line that keeps getting sprouted is really not clever in my opinion. Your essentially saying have only two offensive players.
