Kenedy can also be backup as a wingback and MVG has proven to be a good player for PSV this season. They are all good as squad players, of course its highly unlikely they'll all become regular starters (apart from maybe Christensen) in the next year Rahman was one of the worst players of the Roman era, the only reason he isn't recognised as lowly as Ben Haim, Boulourouz etc is people overhyped his dreadful performances to be something good out of desperation to see Ivanovic dropped. Kenedy is about as much of a wingback as Hazard, he doesn't have the patience required to play there. Van Ginkel isn't good enough for the prem as he has proven and Blackman is an horrific keeper, why bring him as third choice when we have an ex international with CL experience happy doing that role? Makes no sense.

He's not good enough defensively to be a left back, but he's good at going forward which makes him a better wing back. Conte is also considering bringing him back from loan this season as backup. Kenedy did fine a couple seasons ago in that position, and even scored a few goals so whats your issue? MVG has been one of the best players for PSV this season scoring 8 goals in 12 games as a CM, thats impressive. and how is blackman terrible when he won young player of the year at wycombe?

He was ripped apart defensively and wasn't good going forward bar a few good crosses. Kenedy played at left back, left back and left wing back are polar opposites from the tactical scale, at left back it isnt an urgent need to be involved in the build up play to keep things ticking over minute by minute, patient play, simple passing, at left wing back that's the biggest requirement and that's why Alonso has excelled. He keeps things ticking over really well, Kenedy just doesn't have that type of patience and intelligence. Van Ginkel has done well in Holland, but he has pulled up no trees in series a or EPL. Wycombe are a league two side, getting YPOTY there doesn't trump the CL and international experience Eduardo has.
May 10, 20179 yr Since we will be fighting on the CL front as well next season, it would make sense to have 2 LWBs and 2 RWBs. One more attacking, one more defensive. So we have Moses as a more attacking RWB, we could buy another player who is more of a RB and whose defensive side is stronger. As for the other side, I'd say Alonso is probably more defensive than offensive in open play, so someone like a Kenedy could be our left-sided version of Moses.

And in all fairness, someone like Conte can get the best out of him. He turned Moses and Alonso into 2 of our most important players this season, when at the beginning of the season you wouldn't have bet a penny on it. I suppose you make a fair point on Kenedy, but he is definitely an adaptable player that can play in a few different positions. I think he'll be good as a squad player for sure though. I see what you're saying about MVG, but the fact he's been really good at a top 3 side in Holland should say that he has potential for sure. He's only getting better and better each season, despite his injuries. I know they are a league 2 side, but wouldn't you rather have a HG player as a 3rd keeper instead of Eduardo? I mean come on, 3rd keepers are lucky if they get to play 1 game a season

As for the keepers , yeah third choice doesn't often play but it can happen and its happened to us before for some big games (say what you like about Hilario, but he came up trumps for us in some huge matches). If we were heading for a big game vs Barca and Courtois and whoever our new number two is are unavailable , who would we be more confident in , Eduardo or Blackman? Furthermore re the HG rule, if our first two keepers go down at the same time we are entitled to an emergency signing (ie Marcus Hedman in 2006) so if we need to use Eduardo's non HG spot on an outfield arrival, we can and still bring him in if it comes to it.

May 10, 20179 yr I watched Traore in the Europa semi final for Ajax and he looked mustard. In the right structure and learning off of Conte, I think he could be a good addition to the squad next season.
