Nothing for United but there was ITN news footage of us losing 4-2 to Villa

We stopped off at a pub in Nuneaton for a few pints a coachload of us. After a while this bloke stood up and told a joke and it was funny and went down well. My mate (RIP) who was a really funny bloke did the same unfortunately it didn't go down as well a real tumbleweed moment. We used to bring up now and again much to his embarrassment. I remember Chelsea going into the Holte End with about 15 minutes left.

You'll do well to find any more footage for this season the only definite is Spurs at home 1-1 Pat Nevin scores a free kick. And the Man City 4-1 where Pat takes that dreadful penalty and the other league cup games against Wednesday and Sunderland.. There's also this the Arsenal home game.

Anyone know why there’s no sponsorship on our shirts? Gulf Air deal only started a year or so before.

Good shout. No idea to be honest.

I always thought the Gulf Air sponsorship was simply born out of how well we were doing in Div 2 at that time. I think they came in half-way through the season and remember the launch photos in the programme with Flasher sitting on the wooden floor in the East Stand's Executive Club, in the full sponsored kit, flanked by a couple of Gulf Air stewardess girls.

For some reason the sponsorship was never extended into the new season in Div 1. Uncle Ken probably wanted too much money out of them!

Okay mate. I've tried to find an answer. No success. Yours is a good one.

Cheers.

Cheers mate. I didn't realise just how little footage of our games during the 1984/85 season there actually is !

I just assumed or thought there would be much more footage of us back in Division 1.

19840929.jpg Looks like we wore our home top and socks and third kit white shorts for the Luton Town match away on Sat 22nd Sept.  Wonder if that was a late ref request, the white shorts regarding possible clash of shorts colours ?

Especially as we'd worn our all yellow away kit at Villa earlier in the month.

Just wondering !
