I have but not about the game! Brother had a petrol can in the boot with petrol in it and it leaked over my girlfriends coat! She wasn’t happy

  Tuesday, 9th Oct 1984 at 7:30pm A 1-1 draw away at Millwall.  King Kerry Dixon our scorer. Watched by a crowd of 11,157
League Cup - 2nd Round - 2nd Leg. We go through  4-2  on aggregate.

Next up is Watford at The Bridge on Sat 13th October 1984.

 Sat 13th October 1984 and we went down 3-2 to Watford at The Bridge . 25,340 saw it officially.

Our scorer : King Kerry Dixon 7th and 85th mins.

We are now 10th in Division 1.

Next up is a difficult away match v Southampton, down at The Dell on Saturday, 20th October 1984.

 Saturday, 20th Oct 1984 and we lost 1-0 to Southampton in front of 20,212 spectators.

Next up, are Ipswich Town at The Bridge and we play them on Saturday, 27th October 1984

That Southampton game was carnage afterwards,the school was trashed ,my mate got nicked ,I got clouted ,I think we got banned from the dell for a while ...seem to recall it was lively in the ground during the actual game in the home end , I was with many ,crushed in the away end behind the goal

Remember a lad in our school who originated from Southampton, went back to relations there for the weekend, he said as he came into Southampton on the Friday night before the game, daubed on a big wall in huge letters it said 'Chelsea are back', he mentioned the school as well, I remember it being on the TV local news as well.

A fence got ripped up on the way back to the station ( was that the school?)

Didn’t  really fathom why cause couldn’t see any Southampton anywhere.

Never got vandalism. More of a 70s thing. Saw the aftermath of plumbing getting ripped out of the karzi at Derby in 82, and a few smashed windows at Luton circa 81 and that’s about it.

Totally agree about vandalism pointless and a waste of time and energy. I always thought especially in the mid to late 70's early 80's Chelsea's  away support even though I was only a young teenager myself had more vandals then thugs. Someone like West Ham or Millwall had geezers looking for a punch up Chelsea had a lot of young kids looking for a bit of anarchy and destruction.

No idea to be fair about the fence ,it was a good few years back ? no idea why the school got damaged either ...I guess as you say just vandalism for the sake of it...

Southampton used a car park at the school. Loads were giving it large behind the fence. People back then took offence (pun intended!) The mesh fence started to sway and Southampton scattered!

cheers Richard P ,it's funny (you pun as well) as i seem to remember being on the main road with the school in front but Southampton coming up a side road .... blimey memories eh

i do recall my mate getting pulled by the old bill out on the road and his Alsation dog thought it was feeding time ? 

 

Sat, 27th Oct 1984.   A 2-0 home win over Ipswich town.  A crowd of 19,213  saw it. Our scorer was King Kerry Dixon with both goals. 

In the 61st and 83rd minutes.  Darren Woods debut, he played at right back.

Next game is on Tues, 30th Oct 1984 . A Milk Cup Tie at Walshall.

 

Tues, 30th Oct 1984 . A Milk Cup Tie away v Walsall and a 2-2 draw. Our scorers: Pat Nevin 36th and Colin, Lee 84th mins. Watched by a crowd of 11,102.

Next match is a home match v Coventry City  on Sat, 3rd Nov 1984 .

I seem to remember a few CFC got into the Walsall end just before kick off and then got moved out by Old Bill and put in the away end... we were stood just down the side by the away fans in a CFC section as we had behind the goal and where we were on the side

Seem to recall we were 2 - 0 at one stage and were lucky to get out with a draw

Remember being behind the goal in the pouring rain and getting a 2-2 draw. 84/85 was a crazy calendar of fixtures than I can remember!   If you look on the bounder friardale site and look how little we rotated players it’s amazing. We had weeks where we played Saturday, Monday, Wednesday then Saturday!! Modern footballers would have a big shock.

Saturday, 3rd November 1984 .   A crowd of   17,306  saw it.

And a very good 6-2 win over Coventry City at The Bridge.

Our scorers were: 'King' Kerry Dixon  with a  hat-trick in the  30th, 70th and  80th mins.

Keith Jones scored his first and the n second goals for us in the 45th and 84th mins.

Whilst David Speedie scored our other goal in the 69th min.

It was 2-2 at half time.

Coventry' were 2-0 up  and their goal scores were Micky Glynn in the 22nd  min and former  England and Everton striker, Bob Latchford in the 27th min.

Next up, is the return Milk Cup match v Walsall at The Bridge on 6th Nov 1984.

Then it's up to Newcastle on 10th Nov 1984.

 

 Tuesday, 6th November 1984 .   We beat Walsall 3-0,   We were 3-0 up after 12 mins ! 

Our goal scorers were: David Speedie 3rd min, 'King; Kerry Dixon 7th min and, Keith Jones 11th mins.

Watched a by a crowd of 19,502.
