Teams with inferiority complexes about Chelsea

The ones I remember being bad for this was surprisingly Notts County, and I have no idea why ha ha. I remember going to an away match their decades ago (Christmas time I think, we lost) and their hatred for us was incredible, but none of them knew why they hated us, they just did.

Fish and Barrel come to mind.

Everyone disliked us in that era. We took a massive crowd to away games, sometimes outnumbering the home supporters and certainly out singing them. Plus all the off pitch entertainment.

Yep, they used to make games that bit more interesting. Chelsea away and West Ham away always called for a bit of extra care. The first time I went to Millwall was in the old 2nd Division. For some reason, the special from Manchester didn't arrive so it was mostly Cockney Reds and those who came by coach. It was a midweek game as I remember and it was a bit hair-raising. Won 1-0 though.

Banana Bobs book Cockney Reds is quite illuminating. Nice enough bloke. A lot of the Cockneys seemed to come from SW London.

Arsenal invincible’s season was 2003-2004 and they really were strutting round like peacocks.

Prior to that it seemed to be either Man U or Arsenal winning the Premiership for 7 years or so previous, and it was getting a bit Celtic / Rangers.

2004- 2005 under JM everything clicked and we won the PL at a canter, and boy did the Arsenal fans I know pull a strop. Even though it was obvious we were becoming a force with serious money being spent on players and a proven manager, they didn’t expect us to upsurp them.

From Invisible to invisible. Don’t think they’ve ever got over it. Terrible shame.....

I had thought for a while that Arsenal fans were arrogant yet you are right for some time we kind of erased them from premiership success and relegated them to the FA Cup.

They were good lads.  One of them pulled me over the wall at West Ham back in 1975 when I was getting crushed in the melee. I went to college in London in 1973 and met a few of them on the way to games home and away (well, they were all away games at that time). I knew a lad called Steve Cronin who was from Wandsworth and he'd come with me to OT and usually stay the night at our house before we went back on Sunday. He went out to Australia in the 80s and we lost touch.

Arsenal for sure, they thought they were going to dominate for a period after their “Invincibles” season and I reckon they likely would haven won the league again in 04-05 had we not emerged.

Liverpool are another club, I think they were threatened by us. Yeah they may have more trophies than us overall but their recent “history” isn’t amazing. Whereas we have gone from trophy to trophy.

Spurs somehow think they’re bigger than us and think they’ve had a period of success under Pochettino but fact was he won F all. Closet they came to anything were the two finals they reached under him and both of those were 2-0 losses.

You forgot the season they nearly won the league until we ruined it for them :laugh2:

Oh man what a moment we ended their hopes. Spuds fans annoy me when they say they should have won the league. Really disrespectful to Leicester and aren’t I right in thinking even if beat is they weren’t gonna go above Leicester? Then to top it all off they finished 3rd haha

You know they’re proud of their display in that match, right? They still go on about it like blowing a two goal lead and throwing their title chances away is some sort of glorious achievement.

Oh I know mate. I think that’s more likely them deluding themselves. Reality is they lost their heads even though they were winning 0-2. No wonder they’re always the bridesmaids haha

Arsenal definitely, Liverpool will always be my most hated team but Arsenal definitely come across as the most insecure when it comes to us.

I remember when we won the Champions League, their fans were hurt more than Bayern fans, because we took the first and only CL from London, it's a trophy they've never won and a competition they've had piss poor success in. Actually, I would dare say their fans were more upset than Spurs fans even though Tottenham were the ones who lost a CL place because of it. That was my experience with them anyway, have a read of Arsenal Mania in their Champions League thread in 2012 if you want to have a good laugh, half of their forum were on suicide watch.
