We were linked with him before we bought Ben Chilwell.

I've liked the look of him for a while. 

Looks top drawer. 

His source is a metro article...and would he want to be Chilwells backup when he is starting at Brighton?

I'd see him more as a replacement for Dave, he played CB a lot this season and looked great.

A variety of reasons

1) Would be paid more

2) Likely to play in European football 

3) More likely to win silverware

4) Yes he has played one senior game for Spain ( unusual circumstances I think ) he would almost certainly, and it’s not how it should be but it’s how it happens ) probably get more International chances playing at Chelsea

5) We have no idea how well Chillwell will recover so the roles could well be reversed

The problem is that Chilwell is injury prone. This guy looks like a new Alonso.

Well now that he's 31 yea but some years back he was a good wing-back.

I like Kounde, but he isn't PL proven, and would cost more. 

In an ideal world we get both and renew a CB... 

This guy has bursts of games where he looks really really good. 

Very good backup for days where we rest Chilwell
