loz Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I would say Liverpool have been gifted the easiest group of the British teams
Tea Bar Boy Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I knew we'd get Schalke. I knew someone would post that !
VG Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 We'll round it all off with a low-key trip to Turkey, I imagine.
The Brit Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 and finally Rosenburg...can't complain about that group
bjd Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Nope, at the risk of being arrogant we should qualify with ease.
bjd Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I would say Liverpool have been gifted the easiest group of the British teams Who'd have thought it eh ? Though looking at all now i think Arsenal should be thrilled.
Tea Bar Boy Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 hmmmmmm Man Utd v Roma Scousers in Marsielle and Turkey ......................... Plenty of overtime for the old bill I reckon
jack h Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Chelsea Valencia Shalke Rosenborg Could have been easier but it couldve been harder, im happy with that group we should win all our home games though Valencia will be very difficult games.
BlueBeard Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Not too bad for Chelsea, but I'm already looking up the number of the Samaritans after seeing Rangers' group!
loz Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I think it is a great draw for Rangers Bluebeard. With all respect they were always going to struggle in any group so best to get some high profile games and enjoy the experience. A few great away trips for the Rangers fans and I am going to do what I can to get a ticket for the Barca game at Ibrox (be bloody hard though)
jack h Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Going by the way theyve reated on Sky sports news youd have thought Manure had got Rangers group. Manure Roma Sporting Kiev Am i the only one that thinks thats a soft group
Lofty Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 The worst thing about watching the draw on Sky Sports News was Charlie Nicholas. God I despise that twat. Then there's the Champions League theme tune. Surely I can't be the only one who detests the sound of that plastic operatic quasi-classical or whatever it is sh*te? Then there was the length of the damn thing. It seems to go on longer every year. Same old same old. "I think Chelsea have got the hardest draw out of all the English clubs." And Charlie f**king Nicholas dying to rub his hands - "It'll be hard for those bar stewards, by Christ I hope they get stuffed", accompanied by an inanely evil chuckle. Could be worse.
BlueBeard Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I think it is a great draw for Rangers Bluebeard. A few great away trips for the Rangers fans and I am going to do what I can to get a ticket for the Barca game at Ibrox (be bloody hard though) That's all very well, but I was hoping for a Chelsea/Rangers final Be interesting to see the Gers fans in Barcelona. Last time I saw them out there, Rangers had just won the ECWC against Dynamo Moscow in 1972, and if I remember rightly, the cup wasn't presented after the match because thousands of Gers fans were fighting the police on the pitch at the time - great stuff! Worst thing about it is - none of the games will be shown down here!!! I won't get to see any of their games, unless somebody with a very kind nature could record the games for me......(extremely heavy hint)
Lofty Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 If you've got a Sky box, there's a way to get all the ITV Channels. Last season I was watching ITV Borders (better reception than STV) for Rangers and Celtic (scuse the language) in Europe. You add them to the extra channels. Can't remember how exactly, you need a list of frequencies etc, have a look around. If I come across them I'll let you know.
Lofty Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Try this page: Add Regional ITV 1 Channels to Sky TV Box
jack h Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 The worst thing about watching the draw on Sky Sports News was Charlie Nicholas. God I despise that tw*t. I Know what you mean he was doing my head in when he was talking about how david dein selling his shares in arsenal was for the benefit of the club and then he starts talking about abramovich even though he has nothing to do with it.
Joel Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Knee jerk reaction time: Group E is your Group of Death.....Real Madrid and Arsenal with laughably easy draws.
The Moos Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 First of all why can't people learn some english? Did any of the players apart from Cech speak english? No, and what did the host do? He asked one question in two languages. So bloody annoying I could vomit. And the prince of Monaco (Albert or whatever his name was), could somebody please pull that candle out of his a*se and make him calm down. Most nervous man of the evening. And seing Platini looking smug and arrogant almost made me wanna jump through the Tv screen and punch him in the face. Good player perhaps but a f*cking joke. Finally I have to say that after awhile I got really sick and tired of hearing about Puerta and the postponed match between Sevilla and AEK Athens. It was a tragedy, yes, but do we really need to hear about it every five minutes or so? As for the groups there's not one single group of death. Most are pretty clear to me. Some great games though. Barcelona - Lyon can be a real treat and us against Valencia too. ManU against Roma will be a nice one too. I hope that Roma (though I hate them) can get their revenge this time. The groups and standings. Group A Liverpool Porto -------------- Marseille Besiktas - Can't see Pool dropping too many points here. Not sure who will be 2nd though. Clear winner with three teams fighting for runner up. Group B Chelsea Valencia -------------- Schalke 04 Rosenborg - Think it's pretty clear who the top two teams will be. Schalke and Rosenborg shouldn't have a chance. Might manage to get a point or two from the two big teams if they're lucky. I think we will win this one if we want too. Group C Real Madrid Werder Bremen -------------- Olympiacos Lazio - Real Madrid have a very good team and a strong squad. If they can make it work as a team then they can go really far. Werder Bremen has lost Klose but they are still good enough to end up 2nd. Olympiacos will cause some damage at home. I can see all the other teams drop points in Greece. They are worse away but might end up third. Not sure about Lazio. They don't seem strong enough. Group D Milan Benfica -------------- Celtic Shakhtar Donetsk - Milan should win this group and Shakhtar should end up last. I hope Celtic can end up 2nd but it's going to be tough. Group E Barcelona Lyon -------------- Stuttgart Rangers - Lyon are always strong and will make it through together with Barca who have strengthened their squad. If Rijkaard can manage the team right they will have no problems winning the group. Rangers will be last. Group F ManU Roma -------------- Dynamo Kiev Sporting Lisbon - ManU hasn't had a good start in the league but I think they will get back on track and win this group in CL. Roma will fight to overcome them but will end up 2nd. The two last teams will struggle for the third place. Group G Inter CSKA Moskow -------------- PSV Fenerbahce - Inter should have no problems winning this one. They are by far the best team in the group. Then I will go with CSKA instead of PSV. The russians are good and I think they can be a bit of a surprise. Fenerbahce last this time. Group H Sevilla Arsenal -------------- Slavia Prague Steaua Bucharest - I assume that Sevilla will beat AEK Athens and I think they are likely to win the group. Arsenal will, unfortunately, be 2nd because I can't see Slavia or Steaua get more points than them.
bjd Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Rosenborg - Tues 18 Sept - Home Valencia - Wed 3 Oct - Away Schalke 04 - Wed 24 Oct - Home Schalke 04 - Tues 6 Nov - Away Rosenborg - Wed 28 Nov - Away Valencia - Tues 11 Dec - Home Schalke away is the one im looking out for, in the corresponding fixture in our previous to Groups (Bremen and Betis) we lost and were shockingly bad. With any luck we will go into the final Valencia game having qualified. I would suspect Rosenborg (Trondheim i think) in late Nov will be cold cold cold! 12 Points should be our minimum aim, but im looking for around 14.
glory55 Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I fancy going either away to freezing cold Rosenbourg OR Schalke. Of course we have played at Schalke before...... ..... against Besiktas NEUTRAL GROUND MY F**KING AR*E!!!
