Roman in the Shed today.

Not sure if this is posted anywhere else, but I seriously thought I was dreaming at half time today, when Roman appeared and took a seat in the Shed upper.

He was surrounded by Stewards but only had one, not very threatening looking body guard with him.

It was VERY good natured, loads of smiles, waves, and pictures taken. Most fans conveniently forgot the match and turned to stare in amazement.

The Shed singing : "Romans in the Middle" although to be truthful he was probably just about in the Westside !!!

What next? A full interview and explanation ???

I've heard he is known to walk among the fans at Stamford Bridge. I am little suprised he'd do it now though given the recent uproar.

He was really well received. Not a hint of bother from anyone.

lots of "Romans in the Shed End " la la la la !!!!

Was he wearing an Adidas Chelsea shirt?

Did he go to a bar/nightclub in the area after the game and buy everyone a drink - and leave a ?500 tip for the barstaff?

If Roman wants to do something useful with himself, he can explain what has happened at the club in the last nine months or so. If he hasn't a decent grasp of English after three years living here he needs a new English Language teacher.

The Greta Garbo act is becoming very tiresome.

Wealth and power is all well and good - but this is our club, not Abramovich's play thing.

Buying Chelsea was Roman's life assurance policy. I remember looking for information about him on the internet on the night when news of his take over of the club came out - there wasn't very much out there. Now he has a massive profile and residency rights here. He has spent approximately 5% of his wealth on Chelsea. That is one cheap life assurance policy.

I appreciate his investment in the infrastructure of our club, i really do. Despite that he owes Chelsea supporters an explanation of recent events at Chelsea FC out of his own mouth. Watching the Kenyon, Buck and Grant show last week was an utter embarrasment.

Call me an old cynic but its a bit of PR if you ask me.

Also, thats one hell of a belly.

There were photographers positioned there taking pictures of him. He was sat about a dozen rows directly behind me.

It was a stupid, contrived PR stunt that went badly wrong.

At first it was all good natured stuff. People going up shaking his hand, taking pictures. But as the game wore on and things weren't going our way it became increasingly hostile. Mass chants of "Jose Mourinho" aimed at Roman. And he looked more and more uncomfortable, as did the stewards and his security people. By this point he was in a catch 22 situation. He couldn't get up and walk out early the way the game was, he would have got slaughtered by the fans.

All in all I couldn't believe he had taken the decision to sit there. To me it highlights everything that is wrong about our club at the moment.

Just,

You?re absolutely right. It was a fiasco appearing there to sit amongst the supporters ? an obvious advisers? gimmick to give the impression of a fans-loving, listening, approachable Roman as a counter to the fallout of the Mourinho affair. But what happened? It became a missed opportunity, because the contrivance was just plain obvious. It was just too tacky to say the least. What he should have done was to establish a condition precedent ? a simple thing like writing in the Programme for the Fulham game, addressing the fans directly (even if vaguely and briefly) about what has gone on. Tell them you feel their pain, because as they know, you?re a fan of Jose Mourinho as well, especially for the great things he?s helped us achieve as a club. But, things happen in business and changes have to be made. He?d use the opportunity to rally everyone behind the Chelsea dream, pointing out that Mourinho is gone doesn?t mean the dream is dead. Tell them one day you Roman will be gone too (hopefully when he?s old and wrinkled) and the dream would be carried on by our children and new generation of fans. Promise the fans you are rededicated to Chelsea and you?re committed to see the club take its rightful place at the top. That?s enough! He doesn?t even have to mention Avram Grant! He can then follow this up by sitting with the fans, pumping hands and patting backs! Football culture is about human communication and contact not the stage-managed political outing of the nature he engaged in. Yesterday was a day Roman should have dominated the Programme rather than Buck!

The bloke is now officially an absolute grade A tosser. Did he give the real fan that wanted that seat his ticket in the box???

I really feel at the moment like I've been happily married for 30 years and now all of a sudden some rich Russian has come along with all his money, swept my beloved off her feet and taken her away from me!

Not a happy boy at the moment, and unlike most I don't blame Kenyon, I blame the man that employed him.

A more apt scenario would be that Rich Russian came in, bought you a fancy car and house saving your from personal bankruptcy and then took it away suddenly without explanation.

Roman giveth, Roman taketh away

For me that's not right because I had MY football club long before the Russian came in and took it away. I appreciate that he was a major factor in us winning the league and that was amazing, but now oh bollox, what does it matter it's not as if me maoning on and on about it is going to change anything or even make most people understand how I'm feeling at the moment.

I'm off now, to see the other wife!!!

Qaz are you forgetting the "pre-story" as to how Roman got rich? Or should that be an irrelevant to us that Chels, technically, is owned by what Mr & Mrs Vlad and Svetlana Russia used to own (but were either too stupid, too desperate or, too afraid, too keep)? I mean when you think about it, our recent successes are pretty much a Syriana aren't they? Not that there's anything wrong with that in my book in circumstances where Chelsea silverware is concerned. It just occurred to me though that if you're going to keep spinning the company line it may important (just occasionally mind you) to reveal the whole story.

Firstly I am aware of the conjecture over the source of Roman's wealth. When someone gives us some hard evidence about his doing wrong I will definately look into it, but there hasn't been any yet.

Secondly, I am not "towing the party line". Just look at my posts regarding Avram Grant to see i am not "towing the party line" at all.

Thirdly, we seem to forget how close Chelsea was to total annihilation when Roman showed up. Its really quite arguable that there would have been no Chelsea or that there would have been a Leeds-like crash. To forget what Roman has given the club in the past and continues to give the club because of the Mourinho incident is...........well.............suicidal.
