Apparently the talks on his contract extension broke down and Bayern will be looking to sell him or he'll walk on a free at the end of next season.

He's 24, incredibly talented, and one of the best fullbacks out there. I know he was primarily used on the left but he's right footed and can play on both sides. Very exciting player and it's not every day an opportunity like that comes around.

I haven't seen him play all that much, and the first thing that comes to mind is that bullet of a goal he scored for Germany in 2006. I really can't remember how good his defending is, but he certainly likes to get forward.

i've seen Lahm play a couple times mostly in the uefa cup and the world cup. He impressed me in the world cup and that was two years ago and still manages to impress me. He's good at crossing and defending (something ashley lacks at times). The chances of us signing him are slim, but i wouldn't object to it.

And do you know who watched Bayern the last week - Frank Arnesen

great player, have talked about him quietly for some time. Don't think he'd be a bad signing, but don't think he'll be the first full back on the board's wish list; therfore, I doubt it will happen

We don't need another fullback, we have Cole and Bridge on the left and Belleti and Paulo on the right.

I've got a feeling at least one of the four will leave in the summer.

Maybe, I can't really see it happening. Unless Bridge desperatly wants first-team football or Mourinho needs a new full back at his new club (which he would probably turn to Ferriera).

I'm very surprised if Bridge is still a Chelsea player next season. I don't want him to leave, but it seems inevitable if Grant is still the manager next season. And even if we do get a new manager, I'm not sure if Bridge is willing to stick around and risk sitting on the bench for most of the season again. I can't help it, but that's how I feel. Him and Carlo look pretty certain to beon their way out. They both deserve better than being a backup. It's no shame to be Cech's backup, but I think Bridge could be our first choice left back just as well as Ashley.

I dount Carlo will go, he is Chelsea at heart mate and I'm sure he'll be with us until he retires. I don't think he minds staying at Chelsea and playing 10-15 games a season in the cup games and the odd PL and CL game. After all he knows how much he is loved by us, he always gets a great reception when he comes on.

'CARLO, CARLO, CARLO!'

So if we say Bridge leaves, then it'll be a contest for the LB spot between two of the greates LB's in the world between Coley and Lahm. I suppose Lahm is ok on the right, but then we have no great back up for the lb spot.

I think we can spend our money on much more needed players this season.

Well, obviously I am sad to see that Lahm probably wants to leave us. As it is, he will remain here until the end of next season. The club would rather lose the transfer fee, he is that important.

Best full back in the world in my opinion, he can play equally well on both sides, and has enormous footballing intellingence. Very versatile too, played as a DM for example in the friendly between England and Germany.

I hope he will reconsider, but anyway, the team that gets him, will be sorted on his position for the years to come. Favourites now are Barca if you believe the rumours.

Yeah I'd go along with that. The best that I've seen. I said this at the last World Cup.

Only Zambrotta came close IMO.

He played against us in the CL a few years back. Can't remember who for though. He was very young and was on loan at the time from Bayern. Looked a stunning player even then.

Yes, it was Stuttgart!

Althoug he is a Bayern Munich player I would appreciate his signing to replace Paulo or Belletti. Pauo hasn't been on his best since 2005 and Belletti is close to 32 this summer. Phillip is an excellent defender and would be a long-term prospect for Chelsea. Reliable, professional, good crossing, very fast and equalises his phsical constitution with a tremendous fighting spirit!

He played mostly on the left a few years ago since at that time neither Bayern nor the German national team had any good LBs. Nowadays he switches from match to match. At Bayern, when he plays with Lell or Sagnol, he is on the left and when Jansen is on, he is on the right. He has the match experience on both sides. Occasionally he is even used as a winger though with mixed results.

Many people consider him better on the left because there he can use his trademark move of cutting inside and then shooting or making a pass (Best example is his WC goal against Costa Rica.)

B icon_wink.gif ayern Munich fullback Philipp Lahm is on his way to Barcelona.

AS says the Germany international has agreed terms on a four-year contract with Barca after failing to agree terms on a new deal at Bayern earlier this week.

Lahm is expected to move to the Nou Camp as a replacement for Italy fullback Gianluca Zambrotta.

woohoo.gif now we have only to beat Real Madrid for dani alves

hopee he will sing for us now

What would you like him to sing to us? Any song requests? icon_lol.gif

Sorry...couldn't resist. 429.gif

As for Alves...I'd rather have seen us sign Lahm than Alves. And now if Lahm is not on option, I'm not sure if I'd go for Alves either. There's no guarantees he'll make it in England and with the sort of astronomical price tag that's attached to him, It's probably not worth the risk.

One thing I've noticed is his intelligence as a footballer. He always appears calm and invariably makes the right decision in most situations. He's got everything you could want in a full-back.

I'd have him in heartbeat. I'd certainly choose him over Alves.
