Posted June 19, 200816 yr Germany 2-0 up with 30 mins gone. Seems Germany's height advantage is telling, although Klose isn't exactly a giant, and Ronaldo (who was meant to be marking him) is one of Portugal's tallest players. I don't think that could get any more ironic
June 19, 200816 yr Funny how when the Klose scored ronaldo threw his arms up to blame everyone else yet from what you could see he was marking Klose
June 19, 200816 yr yessss, i wish i had this match live. and of course i just transfered klose from my fantasy team.
June 19, 200816 yr Scolari, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Ferreira and Deco(?) vs Ballack - I don't know who I want to win
June 19, 200816 yr This, for me, is easily the best game of the tournament so far. Boswinga has impressed me a lot going forward but looked unreliable defensively and Paulo has struggled at left back. Deco is having a fine game.
June 19, 200816 yr Scolari, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Ferreira and Deco(?) vs Ballack - I don't know who I want to win i had the same thoughts i decided seen ronaldo crying at the end was worth shouting for the germans
June 19, 200816 yr Well, if that's Scolari's idea of defending set pieces i'm suddenly getting a little worried. On a positive note, he can now fully concentrate on all things Chelsea.
June 19, 200816 yr Well, if that's Scolari's idea of defending set pieces i'm suddenly getting a little worried. It was very reminiscent of Chelsea last season wasn't it?
June 19, 200816 yr Someone help me out please: Does Big Phil begin now, or does he start at the end of the month?
June 19, 200816 yr Mourinho was writing in a column just after Scolari had been announced as coach and he said that it was to be expected that Portugal one their group but what worried him was that the team didn't seem to be good at defending at set pieces and this could be their undoing due to their lack of height and they had to concentrate on that more. It is just me or is Ronaldo not quite as good as he thinks he is in his own mind? Ballack had a fine game and Schweizinger? (terrible spelling but I'm sure people know who I mean) played really well and worked so hard for the team. Proves one thing, you can never rule out the damn Germans. I must admit I thought Portugal would get through - I guess may be I was sucked into all the hype about them, the Germans started the tournament well and then wobbled a bit but Portugual need are not quite there yet - you always get the feeling they will reach the quarter final stage or semi's at best and get no further despite their talent. Really enjoying this tournament. So on a final note, the new Scolari era begins, I hope he has better luck with Chelsea - Roman will be expecting silverware coupled with exciting football nothing more nothing less so not much pressure on then.
June 19, 200816 yr Someone help me out please:Does Big Phil begin now, or does he start at the end of the month? He starts officially I believe from the 1 July I thought - sure I read that somewhere. But frankly he as good as starts thinking about the Chelsea job now I would suggest. May be his presentation is on the 1 July?
June 19, 200816 yr portugals set piece defending was diabolical, it was the back post which paulo was covering, ok ballack give him a shove but he should have been stronger and the crybaby ronaldo should have picked up klose for the second, but he stood and watched and blamed everyone else the germans 1st goal was a superb effort no worries about chelsea nd set piecies under scolari, for portugal he doesnt have JT, at chelsea he does
June 19, 200816 yr i had the same thoughtsi decided seen ronaldo crying at the end was worth shouting for the germans  Exactly my thoughts. Ronaldo and Deco will always be in my way of supporting Portugal. Happy for Germany!
June 19, 200816 yr I don't think Paulo should have been stronger. If you are jumping for a ball and get a shove in the back when you are mid air you can't be strong as your feet are not planted in the ground to give you support! It was a clear push by Ballack and if the ref had seen it it would have been penalised. Ballack got lucky and Paulo got unlucky.
June 19, 200816 yr A question English players should ask,is when the Germans are written off they come good why,are they fundamentally better players or of a differing mindset, Also Ballack really is the bollocks of a player.
June 19, 200816 yr , great tournament, . Amen to that. As a tournament it is a country mile ahead of the last World Cup. The last World Cup was the first time in my sweet and charming life that I got to the end of a major international football tournament and truly felt I had not enjoyed it. This one has more than made up for it already and we still have 6 games to go. I also thought Boswinga was exciting tonight although his defensive ability worried me a little (having said that he has the magic factor that Gallas had that he is so swift that he can be caught out of position and still make amends). His crossing and first touch were superb.
June 19, 200816 yr yeah? last tournament I liked, though a bit of a disappointing second half. 2002 was truly a joke for me though. bosingwa- looks excellent going forward... there was one point where he gave lahm a yard or two and burst past him with ease, shame he didn't control it well so had to cut back inside. he worries me a little defensively, but I think we all expected this. so long as we keep paulo for I'd be very happy with our rightback options.
June 19, 200816 yr I also thought Boswinga was exciting tonight although his defensive ability worried me a little (having said that he has the magic factor that Gallas had that he is so swift that he can be caught out of position and still make amends). His crossing and first touch were superb. That's Bosingwa allright. His crossing wasn't bad. I did wonder 1000 times where he was crossing to though. Something must've been worked. To the winger that came inside on the opposite side ?? There was no one there though. NEVER. Ai ai ai ai...
