Didn't look anywhere as good as Ricky C but he hadn't played much in the last 6 months so he may be better than that.

July 8, 200816 yr It's about time he spoke out, although obviously it would have been better done in private. That said, would he really tell the Sun? And would he really say he was better than his current team mates? Hmm...
July 8, 200816 yr Very disrespectful, If true! Riccy is the best defender in the league and is world class (in its classical meaning). Not another loan please! If he is deemed surplus the we should just sell him and get done with it.

If he is deemed surplus the we should just sell him and get done with it. Even for a second I don't believe that Ivanovic ever said anything like that. Maybe he's asked if you think you can evenly battle for the places with Riccy and Alex and he'd respond: "Yes I believe that, I believe myself". Or he's never said that "you should at least ship me to Juve". What kind of idiot would say that coming to a new country and a new club and state that he is better than his teammates?!! Hope he stays with us and proves these obviously made-up comments.
July 8, 200816 yr why cant he just be happy with the money, afterall thats what he signed for, he knew he wouldnt get a regular place
July 8, 200816 yr When I spoke with my Inside Man he told me that Ivanovic arrived at the club in the poorest physical shape he had ever seen of a professional footballer. That plus his alleged comments in the papers does not bode well. Thanks Avram (and Arnesen?!). Still at least we have Fil now who will not tolerate any such nonsense. Let's sell him to Juve and make a tidy profit.
July 8, 200816 yr I saw him in a friendly before the Euro's and Vidic covered his arse for 90 minutes. The only thing he surpasses Ricci in, is the amount of hair on his head Edited July 8, 200816 yr by Tim W
July 8, 200816 yr Something smells very fishy here. A supposed quality player, bought for £9m, does'nt play a game because he's allegedly 'not in shape', only to kick up a fuss about the lack of games, and may now be on his way back out? Very strange indeed...
July 8, 200816 yr Or maybe, just maybe, it's another example of trashy journalism from the Sun. Example. - Branislav do you believe you have enough ability to break into the CFC starting lineup? - Yes. Next day headline: "Ivanovic says he's better than Carvalho".

Next day headline: "Ivanovic says he's better than Carvalho". This may probably be the case... They tend to come up with an over exagerrating statement which intends to capture people's attention really... Cheeeeeeerrss!! =)

Very strange indeed... In all fairness Elliott, not alot about this past season made much sense. Dont forget we have a 30 million pound, 140k a week striker who never got into the Champions League final over Nic Anelka despite being the alltime leader in the competition. Ivanovic's plight is among the lesser of head scratchers
August 14, 200816 yr BREAKING GOSSIP (BBC) Chelsea inform AC Milan that defender Branislav Ivanovic is not for sale, according to the player's agent Vlado Borozan who tells website Tuttomercato.com. "Chelsea have made it known to us that he is indispensable". (Press Association 1532 BST)

"Chelsea have made it known to us that he is indispensable". (Press Association 1532 BST) Good news, that They probably wanted him for a wages-paid, two year loan I hope Ivanovic comes to play a role this year. With a bigger bench in the league, he should get a look at least every other match assuming there are no injuries
August 14, 200816 yr Good. I don't want to lose another defender, not after the injury nightmares we've suffered lately.
August 14, 200816 yr I actually don't think it would be a terrible thing to loan him to Milan for the season (with an option to recall if needed). He's still quite young, and hasn't as yet played in any of the top leagues, so a year in Italy might be a good opportunity for us to see how he goes. It would be crazy to sell him though, without ever having played for us. We still have three good right backs in Bosingwa, Ferreira and Belletti, and at centre back we still have JT, Carvalho, Alex and Maccienne. Plus Essien who has filled in very well in both positions in the last few seasons, if we hit a real injury crisis. I don't think we need any more cover than that, to be honest.
August 19, 200816 yr Might be posted elsewhere, but rumour has it he is off to Milan on loan for the season. If true, this news will depress me as much as the win against Pompey delighted me. What a f**king waste of 10 million that was. Sometimes we really do seem to have the most unbelievably short-sighted transfer policy. If Avram was always going to go (which surely he was) then WHY splash 10 million on a player who might not be in the new manager's plans???? I just don't get it, and however bottomless our coffers may be, it will always p*ss me off if we continue this 'who wants a player for free' policy. Here's hoping we either SELL him for a profit (which I highly doubt) or keep and use a player who cost a LOT of money and so supposedly must be some cop. Where he will play and who he will replace, however, is a tricky conundrum, given our back 4 is a very easy selection to make, and Alex, Paulo and Bridge also in line to plug any gaps. August 19, 200816 yr his agent said he wants to play for milan and thats what will hapen. well, i wanna eat cake of jennifer anistons breasts but i bet that wont happen. You need a new agent!
August 19, 200816 yr Admittedly, yes, it's only agent talk, but regardless of that, it does seem like he was an expensive and unnecessary signing who will never get a game unless we have a raft of injuries, so WHY did we pay 10 million for him???? Stupid money for a 4th choice centre back and 3rd choice right back.
August 19, 200816 yr Totally agreed Tim: it was a stupid transfer and I think Roman and the club got caught up in the hysteria of Vidic and Skrtel being so successful for Mancs and Dippers and wanted to get in on that action. Oh, hang on! Here's another young eastern european CB available, lets get him. I know I might be in the minority, but let him go to Milan. Keep him happy for the moment and if they like him enough they can take him off our hands. If not, recall and no harm done besides some experience. Reinforces my belief that we shouldve never sold Huthie. That was a true squad player, and perfect fourth choice CB
August 19, 200816 yr The more you hear about this from his agent - the more I think we should let him go. Send him to Milan for a year, and see if he is half as good a player as he thinks he is. From all the press statements, it seems like he's possibly just the type of guy we don't want in and around our squad at the moment.
