JT must be dropped

I think he must be carrying an injury and definitely got knocked in a challenge the other day.

Should Scolari be questioning the fitness team about it like Jose did? :Laie_39:

I think its more than that with JT at the moment his head just seems somewhere else. This could possibly be the fallout of England Captain but poor Alex has been stuck between JT and Bose performing badly at the back in recent games. I just think as Ivanovich has played so well maybe its time to give Alex and Ivanovich some time together.

Its a thought, seem to have a lot of injuries but then apparently the training is much shorter than the squd is used to so thats strange.

I think if we are being honest JT hasn't been himself for sometime now. If you compare the JT of the 2004-5 season to now, its a different player totally. Its hard to say what has happened, could it be the England Captaincy ? Well the timings fit , but would that really be the cause ? Could it be the injuries and the defend at all cost attitude finally catching up with him ?

Either way its a conundrum and whilst the major issues in our team right now are in the final third i think this is something we need to maybe address as well. In terms of form and reliability there is no doubt JT is our fourth choice right now. However, if we drop him are we losing our talisman, our inspiration, the chief organiser and most of all the man who rallies when the chips are down ? Who will the players look up to ? JT has been at fault and looked very scarily vulnerable of late (Carlton Cole anyone), but do we risk losing all of the above if we drop him?

Its a tough one, and yet another thing our World Cup winning manager is going to need to address sooner rather than later.

i feel are problems are not at the back, but up top. were a different team with the drog and the sooner he gets back in the starting 11 the better.. :Laie_39:

I think (at least for the short term) there have never been problems that end. We have the Premierships top goalscorer and one of the best strikers in the world coming back into it against West Ham.

I wouldn't drop JT, but he is clearly been lacking the last 5 or 6 games. Without Riccy, he still is our best back there.

We have only conceeded 7 goals this season :Laie_39:

Goals Against

Liverpool 11

Chelsea 7

Manure 10

Villa 20

Arsenal 20

exactly, plus terry brings much more to our side than just his defending capabilities. the fact weve won every away game letting in only 1 goal shows that. i agree that hes not the JT of old and he most definately is carrying injurys, but the only reason to drop him is to let him rest those injurys and get back to 100%. definately not because of what he brings to the team.

What a mug, are you completely insane?

Ivanovic and Alex have hardly been convincing. JT has been better than both of them this season, ok so he hasn't been himself for the last few games but he hasn't been SINGLE HANDLY responsibe for the goals conceded as you are led to believe.

Wait til JT gets the reasurance of Riccy next to him and he'll be back to the best defender around.

Or, do what you believe is best for the team and drop our 6 year captain and:

1) Lose leadership on the pitch which is needed at the moment, JT is the best captain in the world. Lampard is not a good captain.

2) Lose the JT/Cole/Cech and Riccy (when he comes back) contingent that has been solid for years.

3) The rest of the camp will not be happy and morale will drop even lower.

4) Press will get on Scolari's back even more.

5) Top players will be rumoured to be on the move.

6) That audacious £60m rumour of a bid from City in January might not be so audacious after all.

Which option do we have at the moment now when we drop JT? Playing Alex and Ivanovic together? OMG. And just reading the rumours that Big Phil is losing authority over his players where are we going when JT is dropped? I thought stability is what we need

Centre backs play best in partnerships. JT needs someone with more pace alongside him, as does Alex. Putting the two together isn't ideal. In my view Ricky or Ivanovic needs to play alongside Alex or Terry if at all possible.

Having said that, on form I think JT should be concerned about his place. If he wasn't captain and spiritual leader of the side he may well have been dropped by now. Taking everything in to account though I would stick with him provided he is 100% fit.

I have a feeling he's not anywhere near 100% fitness. He's just wants to play too much no matter what injuries. When Riccy comes back I think it would do Terry a world of good to rest a bit and try to get himself back to fitness.

You asked if he was insane??

Your the insane one.

JT isn't the best captain in the world.

60 Million for JT? He isn't the player he was when we won back 2 back titles. he's 28 and his best years are past him. he requires a ricky type player to play with him. he lacks pace, and his awareness is far lower than it used to be, far lower.

If he wasn't chelsea captain he'd be fighting for his spot in the team.

There's backing your team through and through. but that is just being a homer.

what a load of bollocks. he quite obviously is one of the best captains in football, as proven by his drive, commitment, sheer effort, will to win and efforts of the pitch to instill a spirit wihin the club. his best years are past him? wrong again. many central defenders hit their prime after turning 28, indeed one of our best ever in desailly was around 30 when we signed him and he had 5 or 6 superb seasons for us. as for saying his awareness is far lower, im starting to think youre either a manc/dipper on the wind up, or just knows sod all about football.

Your a funny guy.

If you think JT is a top defender, you need to lay off the crack pipe.

How many times is he caught out of postion?? be honest mate. he's slow, and is simply not the defender he was.

You sir, are simply a member of the "lets Jerk off chelsea no matter what" club.

He was voted UEFA's best defender last season, he's been in FIFA's world XI for 4 consecutive seasons. His stats show he has been the most efficent defender in world football for the last 3 years or so. He is without doubt the biggest legend we have had at this club, and he is JUST 28yo.

Try looking elsewhere on the pitch (or off it) for someone else to blame for our current poor (home) form, because JT isnt the problem.

You are a child that obviously has now broken up on term time this Christmas and finding things to do during the day.

I use to get bored of your waffle over on cfc-net too, once making the greatest claim I have ever read on any forum..

Man I'm a big essein fan.....but he isn't on stevie Gerard's level....Gerard and kaka for me are the best two midfielders in the world.

Calling long term members 'MLA' just shows your intelligence.

how do i lack passion? i think my "passionate" defense of JT was pretty good. and your more than a critical chelsea fan, youar an absolute idiot who posts some of the biggset rubbish ive seen on this forum. i posted my arguments as to why JT is a great captain for chelsea, your arguement was to become abusive, as usual. if youhavent the intelligence to hold an adult argument then maybe you would be more comfortable on another site, maybe high scholl musical or some other brainless sh*te.
