just to emphasise how superior we are to everyone else, we wiped the floor with our rivals at the presentations this morning...impressive stuff...but as we know it's about how good you are at sucking up not how good you are at hosting a tournament

So the Holland/Belgium bid is already a non-starter? Excellent! We would never be able to finish building works on budget and in time, it's just not in our nature.

William Hill had the Russian bid in the lead, followed by the English bid and then the Iberian not far behind.
Its funny that you folks would be gutted by the Iberians getting it. I wouldve thought the Russians winning it would produce that kind of reaction. Personally, I think the Iberian bid presents a "safe" option for them, becuase modern and safe like England's bid, but without the stigma of corruption or infighting the Russian one might have.
And though I live in the USA now, I would really like to see Australia get 2022. 1994 was too soon in comparison, and its time for football to really hit the heights in Australia. Somehow, william hill says the Qatari bid is the favorite.

The reason I object to the Iberian bid is that they have held a World Cup not that long ago compared to 1966 ?? Mexico and Germany have held it twice since we last did . I wouldn't mind it going to Holland / Belgium ......Russia I am not 100% sure would be a good venue given the travel distance and visa issues it would throw up

the fact everyone knew fifa was bent before these stories came out says it all...it's inevitable when you've got such old farts in dark rooms making such decisions...the fact england haven't hosted the tournament since 66 is a joke in itself...it's all about politics and money, not who is the best...after the inevitable confirmation that we have failed to win 2018 later this week, I suggest we save our money and don't bother in future...we're beaten before we even start
You have to think if England dont win 2018, when all the stars seemed to allign to make a fantastic bid, Beckham, Cameron and the future soverign go to make their pitch, and the other bids have some obvious drawbacks, they might as well not even bother in future.

Qatar or Australia for 2022 is my hope.

none needed, krazy. 1994 was not long ago, it would nice if they could spread the wealth a bit.
I really think Australia, with it being in or near the same time zones as 2.5 billion people in Asia, would be the smart choice.

That was my prediction. Money talks with FIFA after all. If this is the case it will be an absolute disgrace. Especially following all the exposes about corruption. Fifa should be cleared out.
