  1. Get what you mean but literally everything in QPR was designed to go through austin. They always suited their formation, style to get the best out of him because he's the only decent player. When he wasn't playing well on the day or was out then they looked even more lost. That's quite similar to demba ba in newcastle where I heard a lot of fans complaining that they sucked up to him to suit his play the best, although when he left they realised it was for the best. When he came to Chelsea he had some good games but nowhere to the standard of him when he was at newcastle. He wouldn't get anywhere near the same luxury here, even as a backup. Either Lacazette or Griezmann would suit that a lot better I feel. Maybe Benteke but Villa would want huge sums.
  2. No GK then? Alderweireld will probably be the def. Midfielder could be gundogan or modric. Not sure on the ST, falcao?

Marchisio performed better than anybody else in that team I thought, lol. He'd suit us better than Vidal / Pogba to be fair but like Remodez said, Schneiderlin would be a much better signing. Barca president has come out and said he wants to sign Pogba anyways so it'll be hard to compete with that.
  4. Arsenal sold their players because they had to offset the amount of debt incurred from the construction and establishment of their new stadium. They managed to get top 4 positions in that time still or else there'd have been some heavy repercussions on the club. Now that they nearly all the debt has been settled, it's unlikely you'll see a pattern of this continuing. Chelsea have never been in a bad position financially under RA, and hence don't gain any benefits for the club, but instead, potential losses (not necessarily financially). I don't like really like the way we allow Mata with his quality to go to United, or for Lampard to leave freely like that, and now potentially Cech. We need to look out for the club first and foremost, and a transaction like this won't help that. If we were to get an exponential fee like 40 odd million (aware it won't be that high but just assume that) then yes, it would help with purchase of other players, but for 10m? Not likely to change much. This isn't even considering if you take a fairly popular opinion on this site that José feels the team is good enough and will only make minor purchases to help the squad as a whole. Chelsea are a very good team, but it's only going to get harder for the team next year. Winning prizes is up to Chelsea, that's correct, but you win prizes by having better quality overall as a squad and as your primary first XI, so selling Cech would weaken the squad (although either way he's not going to stay) but give other teams a great deal of quality as well. Allowing a player of Cech's quality to leave to a rival is only going to create an even smaller gap in quality between us and Arsenal -- or whatever rival we sell him too. Goalkeepers won't have the same effect as investing in a top striker, no; nor will it have a significant effect from upgrading from a good keeper to a very good keeper but when your existing goalkeepers have a lot of faults to them (like Opsina and Chesney clearly do) then a player like Cech could easily get them many extra points. Hopefully Wenger has too much faith in their GKs to do anything, and United go for a younger keeper instead.
  5. They offered him 165k a week, by all accounts, and some have rumoured that they offered him 180k. To put that into context, Hazard, Costa, Silva are rumoured to be on 180-200k a week. City tried hard to keep them and offfering him upwards of 165-180k means offering him near enough to the 200k mark, and essentially if squad players like Milner are earning 200k, one can only imagine the outcry from players like Zabaleta on under 100k, Kompany on 120, etc, and from any new signings. But [/size]he only played in 51% of City's minutes on the pitch this year, despite not having any injuries according to transfermarkt. Pelligrini himself said 'sometimes you have to play a more technical player'. He probably wants guarantees over the CM
  6. Personal glory -- Probably to show that he could win it
  7. Waiting on Arkham Knight. All the other games around this time are / seem good but that's the real one to look out for.
  8. What an incredible team Barca is. They'd take care of Pep's barca with ease tbh.
  9. How much will this cost? 40m? f**k that. What on earth are they thinking? Hope this doesn't drain the funds from other potential targets. Don't see anything wrong with having Remy as a backup -- and I don't think he'll fancy playing 3rd choice. This could be a loan though...
  10. loooooooooooooool tbf I don't think, if he's elected, they'd allow his religious beliefs (although this is a little different...) to influence his the decision he makes anyways. Right...?
  11. well that escalated quickly praz, you're not the most intelligent person are you
  12. Considering some of the comments like selling Ivanovic in order to player Kalas instead, I think it's best if he stays away from the main forums. He'll be eaten alive. Guy will probably suggest playing a youth team away to Man City
  13. We were looking at buying Torres in 2003 I believe. Would've been great to see him develop his here.
  14. Not my intention to be rude here, but there's nothing in this response that my original comment can't cover; I'll simply rephrase it (but add a few details on too). his goalscoring record is much better than Salah and he's playing at a big club. Salah has scored goals and then been figured out rather quickly so his form has gone. Griezmann has started good goal scoring form at a mediocre team, improved in it, and now done superb in it this season at a top team. He hasn't been figured out suggesting that's he's not just some predictable player who gets a few goals at the start and performs well (similar to Gervinho or Townsend), but a consistent player that keeps on improving and getting many many goals. Quite a lot of Sanchez's goals have been where Sanchez is in the right place at the right time, rather than lots of individual goals of brilliance (not saying he doesn't get those), yet everyone here is saying they would love to have him in the team. That, in combination with his many other assets like supreme technical ability (like Sanchez), is why he's worth 40m. Goals should be assessed because he's scored far more than Salah has. He probably would've got nothing in the LL.
  15. Don't think we're too much in need for Godin. Unlikely we'd get two players from Atletico and would rather get Griezmann. 1) Griezmann 2) A midfield who can play B2B / DM to a good level. Maybe Schneiderlin would be good. 3) If Luis is used as part of the deal, then a left back. I'd take Gaya from Valencia. 4) If Bamford isn't used as a 3rd choice striker, Ings from Burnley.
  16. He has far more of a variety of goals -- notice how for Mo Salah his goalscoring form has dried up yet Griezmann has been very consistent all season for Atletico, and not just this season, but for RS last season too (and not a bad tally the season before that). Griezmann has far more to his game than Salah as well. In addition, him playing for a team like Atletico would mean more teams would play a compact, more deeper defence and hence hehas that kind of experience to help unlock them -- it'd even more of an asset considering it's in the La Liga and you'd require a bit more technical ability to unlock them.
  17. Ibe coming on. He'll be a bit of a problem with the pace never mind it's not him...
  18. 3 goals 2 assists from Aguero
  19. Neymar was awful that game. Messi confirming himself as the GOAT. Nobody touches him -- nobody.
  20. Personally like Didier the most but I regard Terry as the biggest legend.
  21. What category would Babayaro fit into?
  22. A rather naive and oddly over-confident feeling that he wouldn't do well here. Far too many people underrate Guardiola on this site. Recent antics have put him in a more negative light but he is one of the best in the world and maybe even the best. Not just at managing but a brilliant coach as well.
