Don Conte reacted to T-val in Alex SandroEnough of this pipe dream, we aren't signing this guy.

Don Conte reacted to DonAntonio in Renato sanchesHe is 19 in a team stacked full of tallent, if he leaves that's why, but he isn't like fabregas that's a strange comparison, he is quick, powerful, skilful on the ball, burst of pace and a decent passer but no where near as good as cesc.
For Chelsea he would be the next in line if we had a CM injury, cesc at his age and in this set up is more of an impact sub for stubborn teams or a tactical inclusion, vest starting in a double pivot doesn't work very well as we have seen, sanches is good enough to start for us you saw him play us a week ago, he can handle big games as you saw at the euros, so he certainly has more of a chance to play with us than Bayern, a loan to a club like Chelsea where you will receive top level coaching, high pressure games and game time would be very attractive for him.

Don Conte reacted to DonAntonio in Renato sanchesWe need this guy, just one thing I'll comment on that you see in this video other than the rest of his game being so good, the way he turns away from players is world class , if you watch against Bayern we got clogged in the midfield and couldn't release quick enough.
Getting that couple of yards the way he turns players is so critical on a counter, if teams can stuff our release from midfield they stop the counter.
Its little things that change games, imagine defence clears out he turns his man gains 2 yards he looks up and you have hazard, morata and pedro blazing down the pitch...it plays in to our strengths.
Kante isn't the best passer, cesc isn't strong enough or good enough on the ball to get the space that's why he sits in space so he can distribute, matic doesn't pass forward, that really wasted our counter, that's why you see hazard dropping deep to pick up the ball so often.
Honestly just that little attribute in our system in that position is so important.

Don Conte reacted to ForeverCarefree in Diego "the guv'nor" Costa2 titles in 3 years with him our leading scorer in each of the last seasons.
It's a nice hypothesis you've got there but I don't think we can ignore just how much Diego bought to the team... Morata has got a huge task on his hands to replace him.

Don Conte reacted to Chelsea Buzz in Diego "the guv'nor" CostaAnd so the Diego era at Chelsea draws to a close. I can still feel the excitement of his transfer the summer of 2014. It was announced early in the window I believe. Coming off a three man rotation at striker of Torres/Eto'o/Ba, Diego was the striker the club so desperately needed.
He brought a swagger. Who could forget the Everton match at Goodison early that year when Diego was wrecking havoc in a 6-3 win for the Chels? He was instrumental in the flying start that year that we led wire to wire to hoist the PL Trophy.
2015-16 was just a debacle. Diego turned his attitude on the pitch up a notch unfortunately to PL's top villain. He became a huge distraction and side show. I was always curious if this was just Diego out of control or instructions from Jose to muck it up out there. Regardless, it was not pretty.
Then last year, Conte reeled in Diego. He seemed focus in the first half and again instrumental in the 13 match winning streak. He was under control and playing with great pace and desire.
The new year arrived, and bam, the circus began. Diego struggled to score or dominate like before. Conte has now revealed all the rumors in January were true. It was about the cash and chance to play in China. Conte managed this potential huge distraction incredibly well and we yet again hoisted the PL Trophy at season's end. Like many posting here during the final few months, I too questioned if Diego's mind and/or heart was in it. What was going on. He scuffed easy chances. He missed penalties (at Anfield), he seemed lost or not caring at times. He waved goodbye to the Bridge crowd several times.
Regardless of the drama the second half of last year or the villain role that got was out of control, he should be remember fondly. He was a huge reason we have two PL titles the past three seasons. When focused, he was a beast on the pitch not to be denied. Perhaps one of the most deadly poachers the PL has seen. Inside the 18-yard box, the dude was incredible. He had great pace most always. He was perhaps one of the worst strikers with the ball at his feet in midfield. Ugh, that was ugly.
Chelsea now moves forward. I think we all will wish him well for the rest of his career and will remember the good times. Thanks Diego for your years in Blue!!
I will miss the echoing chants of Di-eg-o Di-eg-o!!

-
Don Conte reacted to Brutos in Victor MosesYou don't need WC players in every position to win the league you need the player's who fit the system and work for eachother and the team. This is why Conte is good at what he does
-
Don Conte reacted to Deino in Diego "the guv'nor" CostaIf Morata is 58m, we can surely sell Costa for 60m on a good day or 40mish on a bad day. The worst would be around 25m
Love or loathe him, he was instrumental in our title wins. History will slowly forget his attitude tho
